look at the finals for the WTA Event ... every year won by a player that reached at least #5 on the SE WTA rankings  :hearts: most of the time the finalist also reached at least SE WTA #6 or at least was a Russian

1996 Former SEWTA #2 Conchita Martinez d Barbara Paulus 6–1, 4–6, 6–4
1997 Former SEWTA #2 Jana Novotna d Ai Sugiyama 6–3, 6–4
1998 Former SEWTA #3 Mary Pierce d Monica Seles 7–6(2), 6–3
1999 Former SEWTA #3 Nathalie Tauziat d Barbara Schett 2–6, 6–4, 6–1
2000 Former SEWTA #1 Martina Hingis d Anna Kournikova 6–3, 6–1
2001 Former SEWTA #4 Jelena Dokić d Elena Dementieva 6–3, 6–3
2002 Former SEWTA #4 Magdalena Maleeva d Lindsay Davenport 5–7, 6–3, 7–6(4)
2003 Former SEWTA #2 Anastasia Myskina d Amιlie Mauresmo 6–2, 6–4
2004 Former SEWTA #2 Anastasia Myskina d Elena Dementieva 7–5, 6–0
2005 Former SEWTA #3 Mary Pierce d Francesca Schiavone 6–4, 6–3

Well, this is the first year I can remember where I haven't actually followed any Tennis after the US Open. In the past I would really look forward to the indoor season in Europe and then the year end championships - usually held indoors in Europe or America, there were some great indoor tournaments with great matches.

But now clearly with the roadmap, the WTA has become an almost year long hardcourt extravanganza and I just don't find that very interesting. And of course, the last tournament is in Doha on outdoor hardcourt and last year the attendance in Doha was diabolical.

Anyway, in some ways the year long secario of really poor attendances doesn't seem to bother the WTA and top players, they are getting more money than ever before thanks to sponsorships so poor attendances all over the world seems to be almost an incidental occurence - doesn't make for good television unfortunately.

How long can that last??

As for the Kremlin cup, I hope Francesca wins the final, she doesn't win many tournaments and she is a very friendly player.

It can last as long as corporate sponsors continue to show large profits which enable them to sponsor tennis and take it off their taxes. In the USA it's all about the advertisers allowing the daily tabloids to stay in business and not the reader who spends 75 cents for a newspaper. If fair was fair Moscow would not have a WTA event. I saw matches there with 200 people . :) :wavey:

Are you a representative of Sony Ericsson? Why the hell do you always use SEWTA? There wasn't any SEWTA before 2005.

Looking at my own time watching this fall season i totally agree with laurie... This is for me the first time as well that i΄ve been totally disinterested in the fall season. I find it extremely boring actually...(even though i still try to follow it because i love watching tennis)

I miss the european indoor season so much... and like laurie said there must be a point where this all turns around on the tour. I mean, who liked watching this fall season? It can't be as many as the ones who loved the indoor season, is it? If popularity and attendance drops the tour will have its hands full with maintaining coverage and prizemoney etc.

before 1996 moscow was a MM tournament so 95 doesn't count :p

this year has been awful for the top players in terms of consistency, where are the rivalries? moscow this year is just another example of this

Well in Moscow's defense it was scheduled at the worst possible time. Hopefully next year this tournament will be upgraded to a Premier 5 at least.

I have to agree... the top 10 players this year have been so inconsistent - both of those who entered Kremlin couldn't get past the quarters!

I'd dislike him even more if he was a Radwanska fan. I think all Na Li fans hate him for making them all look silly!
