A win is a win I guess but Sabine's backhand is just terrible. She sprayed errors all over the court from that side.

Shahar is really back to her best level, her BH is making wonders again! Loved the way she saved this MP.

Thank God Sabine came back and won, but Sabine was awful today. Her DF's and ist serve were killing her all match long. I am breathing a sigh of relief. She must watch for all those drop shots from Bacsinszky and her 2 hand backhand shots down the left sideline. Sabine, you have to pick up your game. Let's go!

shaky stuff through last two sets, glad Sabine decides to step it up on several crucial points. Peer was more solid though.

hope Sabine won't have a letdown after winning such a tough match.

AMAZING fight from Sabine. :worship:

Shahar had point(s)? to go up 5-2 in the third. I thought Sabine was down and out but like all great champions do, she found that second wind and started to play the great aggressive tennis that won her the first set!

Well done to Shahar. She played so well and gave up very few loose points.

So looking forward to this final. Two girls who love tennis and show it on the court. :hearts:

A mind blowingly exciting match.Sabine was clynically dead at 2-4 00:30, even I as a big fan wouldn't give her more than 5% chance to come back. She was looking dead tired and without a single bit of confidence, then just a couple points turned it arround. It just goes to show you how mental tennis is.And she finally wins a close match. :worship::worship:

Will be interesting tommorrow.:lick:

I´m really surprised that she was able to win this!
Her serve was so weak at the start of the third set and she was looking really tired, but she was able to turn it all around, after 2-4 and BP down, and even in the TB she came back from 3-5!
Sure, her drop shots werent good today, but she showed us many times before that she can do it better....she can play some amazing drop shots!

Hope that Sabine isnt too tired tomorrow then she has great chances to win this! :)

Bacsinszky plays with a lot of stategy and mixes her game up well. I hope Sabine does not overhit herself out of this match. Sabine if you want the $37,000, you have to play smarter and remember Bacsinszky likes to hits a plethora of drop shots and loves to hit that double backhand down her left sideline. Bacsinszky can also serve and is also 20 years old. Come on Sabine, push it up a notch and do your homework on Bacsinszky

Good to hear that.

Surprising result - all the more so as, when I checked the scoreboard, Lisicki was down a break in the 3rd. I didn't expect her to win a 3rd set against a grinder. And win or lose, I rejoice with each match Lisicki plays without getting herself injured.

It's cute to see Shahar and her coach together. "She's hitting unbelievable because you let her. Your balls are too short. Hit deeper! Be aggressive and just enjoy yourself!" "I am!" and then she played great to win the second set. They really seem to get along with each other.
I also forgot that a well-playing Shahar has a much more aggressive mindset than the likes of Radwanska/Wozniacki. She doesn't really have the tools for it but I did see some powerful backhands (one gutsy bh dtl winner at mp down) and some nice forehand swing volley winners. She just needs a little bit more consistency and she should be back in the top 30 in no time. Although I must add that the camera angle and the indoor surface might have clouded my judgement a little bit.

She does. I'd file her under "aggressive baseline grinder" (i.e. much like Jankovic when she's confident or Lena D. when she's playing on autopilot) rather than flat out pusher like Wozniacki. Prime (2007) Shahar was actually a better player than Wozniacki is now - yet she never even came close to cracking the top 10. What does that tell us?

Nothing that we didn't know already with one of the biggest jokes at nr.1
Next year will be much better.
I think Cibulkova's game is the one closest to Shahar by the way.

It won't, and this isn't just doomsaying.

I think Cibulkova's game is the one closest to Shahar by the way.

Right, that's a much better analogy. Cibulkova is the blueprint of the modern grinder.

It won't, and this isn't just doomsaying.

Honestly, it can´t get worse then this. And knowing clijsters, sharapova and henin are likely to return to the top10, and challenge the current ´top´ players the entertainmentvalue will go up by a mile.

I've been hearing that for two years now and my gut feeling is that we're yet to hit rock bottom.
