Great from Timea. She's clearly Switzerland Nr. 2, if not Nr. 1. Hopefully she will win her first title tomorrow.

Well what Timea lacks in fitness she makes up with a fantastic attitude! I'm officially a fan now. Her FH is pushtastic but I love her drop-shots. :hearts: I was scared when she seemed to be out of gas and took a tumble late in the third set, but she came up smiling. What a lovely girl!

My thoughts exactly, but I am glad that Timea got an impressive win :yeah: really fought it out when she looked exhausted at the end of the third. Amaze.

Wickmayer's attitude is still disgusting. She should ask for advices to her fellow belgian player (not talking about Henin here:tape:)

Haha, what? I love me some whoopymayer, but this is certainly not the first time she gets moody... She seems to be working on it though. She visibly controls herself during the first stages of the match, but as the games go on she gets more and more agitated.

When she was young, she couldn't hit a FH-shot cleanly. She had an excellent backhand but her FH was completely shit. Altough she worked very hard on this shot, it's still her weakness. But since today she has a new strength: drop shots :)

For those who didn't watch the match. There are two turning points of this match's outcome:

(1)Timea served 4-2, missed a passing shot to get broken, the momentum swung back to Yanina side, Yanina almost won if making use of the BP in 9th game (Timea missed an easy BHDTL winner and saved BP with a good serve, she fell on the ground, had Yanina put the ball over the net, she would have lost).

(2)Final Game Yanina miss an overhead to give Timea a MP.

I am not happy with the outcome since Yanina lost, but she was completely outplayed. Bacsinszky had 3 components going to day wtht Yanina just playing her power game with limitations, since her serve was not overpowering. Bacsinszky had around 11 points on drop shots and she also hit a drop shot in game 12 set 3 which set up her 2 hand backhand on the last winner of the match hit down he right sideline.

After Yanina won the ist set Bacsinszky controlled the match for most of the way winning set 2 easily and then taking a 4-1 in the 3rd set. With the score tied at 30 in game 6 set 3, Bacsinszky hit a shot over the baseline , but thought the shot should have been called good. They was no replay here, but the call was called correctly. Yanina went on to win the set and the next 2 games to tie the set at 4-4.

Bacsinszky held in game 9 and Wickmayer held in game 10. In game 11 Bacsinszky game up with another drop shot winner with an Ace and 1 unreturned serve to take game at Love.

In game 12 with Yanina serving and the score tied at 30-30 Yanina had control of the next point, but in coming to the net, Yanina missed an easy smash. Then a drop shot from Bacsinszky set up her final 2 hand backhand down the line for the final winner of the match. Bacsinszky won the match and deserved it, but I am sad. Yanina could not stop the drop shots all day long and did not stop Bacsinszky shots dwon the left sideline, which saw too many winners.

Great to see her doing well again on WTA, good luck in the final! She was so bad in that first set but she wised up and started being more aggressive with her backhand throughout the rest of the match. Her serve and backhand should make her a Top30 player by mid-next year. It was hilarious to see Wickmayer's reactions to being drop shotted so many times.

Yanina, you let me down. Far too many times Bacsinszky knew where you were going to hit the ball. Yanina has to mix up her game a little more and not tip her keys.

 'US Open was a fluke' sayers, Yanina was probably pretty damn tired after winning in Linz last week and making the SFs here, 5-5 in the final set of a tight match, i'd like to see you close it out. Sometimes I just wonder how much some of you actually know about tennis.

Well done Timea! Not totally unexpected considering her great draw this week, but it's another thing to capitalise on that. Have a great final tomorrow!
