I'm watching it now on Eurosport and I'm rather impressed by Govortsova. Her forehand is pretty strong. Congratulations Olga :). I did think this was Alisa's match to take though, so I'm quite disappointed that she didn't get through to the final

Never in doubt.
Govortsova played a nice match, nothing spectacular bar a couple of BH DTL winners but totally outplayed our little elephant.

Moscow is a Warsaw vol.2. Olga for the title! :rocker:

Govortsova played quite solid, Kleybanova's serve deserted her today.

deserved win

I didn't understand all the hype towards Alisa after she beat Jelena. It was such an obvious tank. At her best Klebs is just a B version of Marion.

It's time for Klaybanova and Pavlychenkova to start going to Jack La Lanne classes 4 days a week. Something must be done with that Flubber.

Govortsova in a premier final *vomit* And I thought Vesnina reaching one was bad :tape:

Schiavone .vs. Govortsova in a Moscow final... This event has been utterly destroyed by the WTA. No wonder the stands are empty.

Surely Alisa must have been injured?

Surprising result.

Govortsova gets absolutely no respect in here, but she has game. Limited and generic, yes, but I'd label her under "poor man's Azarenka" - startling similarities in build and looks (even down to the same blue-grey eyes and flushed cheeks), strokes and overall approach to the game. Excellent ROS, consistently good at taking the ball early and handling pace.

As for Kleybanova, put her up against someone who hits deeper and with more pace than Jankovic and all of a sudden her movement doesn't look that good. "No plan B" is one of the most overused canards in here, but for Kleybanova yesterday it was just that: what does she do when those big shots of hers are going out? The answer: nothing. But I'm beginning to realize that people are indeed right in criticizing her poor fitness - even though they do it for the wrong reasons. Her massive body weight is what allows her to hig big when out of balance, out of position, and often out of everything, and I doubt her movement would improve all that much if she shed some weight. What would improve would be her ability to play (and win) more than 3 matches in a row - she looked spent, and quite possibly injured, yesterday.

Jankovic tanked this match. :p
