no tanking here - Jankovic simply overpowered by tall hard hitter, as usual:devil: Kleybanova should reach TOP 20 soon, one of the best hitters on the tour now. She is quickly becoming my second favorite:bowdown:

I'm a hardcore Jelena fan and I can tell you that she didn't tank. She did her best but Kleybanova always had the last word, especially when we're talking about her service game in the 2nd part of the 2nd set. Kudos to her :yeah:

Oh please, that the second time in two months she beat Jankovic, stop making excuses, Kleyb served really well, and her shots were almost all on the lines, JJ couldn't do much.
Don't come up with tank job everytime JJ lost, she doesn't have the game to overpower a lot of players, and certainly not a player like Kleyb.

 ok, sorry guys, I'm just in a mood to annoy someone today  :help:

Now serious, congrats Kleybanova. Great serving, nice shotmaking, all in all deserved win. However, it was clear JJ wasn't even near her best. Was she tanking, having lack of focus ahead of YEC or completely disturbed by Kleyba's game we'll never know. I do think she can beat Alisa, but in both encounters JJ just didn't give it all. First of all, JJ's returns were terrible through most of the match and that's what gave her trouble. I don't know if that was because she just doesnt care too much or she's standing too close to the goddamn baseline when returning.

Anyways, I hope for a decent run in Doha. JJ is always inspired when playing against top players and she wanted to qualify so badly, and that's why I think she'll give a good performance.

I guess this answers your question asshole

Alisa Kleybanova was the better player today, admitted defending champion Jelena Jankovic after her loss to the Russian in the 1/4 finals of the Kremlin Cup-2009 (4/6, 3/6). – She sent me those balls with a very low bounce, and it was hard for me to make her move”.
“I tried my best, but it wasn’t enough today – Jankovic added. – I also think Kleybanova is one of the favorites of this tournament, it will all depend on who she gets to play next because in tennis you may run into an opponent with a style of play you don’t like. In any case she has to play just two more matches”.

Alisa is too inconsistent. But she has weapons, very few players do.

The Dawntreader
Oct 23rd, 2009, 08:36 PM
Flat, flat performance from Jankovic. Her forehand steadily deterioated through the match. Some of them wern't even borderline. Bottom of the net:tape:

I agree with what someone said about Kleybanova, her game has some kind of winning formula against Jankovic. Anyone who can take Jankovic off-court with angle and width is going to do well, and have moderate enough success. It helped that Kleybanova backed it up with her serving too, arguably the most awkward looking shot in her arsenal.

I am a bit of a fan of Kleybanova, purely because she has such deceptive qualities about her. Her movement out of the corners is extremely effective.

Bad year for Jankovic, with only a few glimmers of life. I doubt Doha will be any kind of a reprieve.

MechWarrior2k
Oct 23rd, 2009, 08:40 PM
If Kleybanova can shed 20 lbs, she would definitely be giving top 15 players all they could handle more often. She actually moves better than Safina despite looking awkward when on the run.

Less than best effort from Jankovic in the 2nd set. Her slot in the YEC was guaranteed, no point in staying in Moscow any longer. Interesting that she managed to close out at least a couple of service games with several 1-2 points in succession though.

Huge serving from Kleybanova. I'd like her to win this title, but she won't.

Why? She is playing Govortsova in the semis who she is more than capable to beat. And then it is Francheska or Alona. Yes, both of them are in great form, but still both are beatable.

Gosh,do you really think Jelena gives a shit she lost to this fat screamy girl lol Jelena made YEC and she can't play any worse than she did this year!!!You can say whatever you want but you must give her some credit for playing for her standards bad,and again be top 8! And your Kleybanova will always be someone who two or three times per year beats someone good,of course when the favourite is not in a mood to play ! And I am really fascinated when some of you say Jelena has bad returns !!!! Come on,she's probably the best "breaker" with Dementieva on the tour!!! She just needs to fly to Doha, guys !! Relax, and enjoy Jelenas "bad" returns in Doha ! :D :D :D

I don't think Jelena was giving her best effort.
Alisa is still on the way up but Jelena has been a YE #1, a slam finalist and multiple Tier I winner.

Alisa is far from that. She's still outside the top 20

Alisa is a very interesting player.
You think of her as this big girl who can't go twelve rounds but she really plays physical matches and take a lot more out of her opponents, who are in many cases supposedly fitter, than in her herself.

Wawrinka's ass.

Here we go again...every player that beats Jelena is the next big thing . Marion, Cirstea now Alisa. Where are the results!!!!. Couldn't it just be that wasn't playing her best?. No way right?.

Alisa is quickly becoming one of my favorites. With a little seasoning, she could well become one hell of a champion. :hearts:

And when she beat her in Toronto - what was the excuse then?

She was too tired after winning Cincinnati and beating Clijsters in previous round, of course. ;)

It was all over when Jankas dress fell off in the warm up.

Exactly, and nobody seem to pay attention to that CRUCIAL detail :bigcry:

I don't think Jelena was giving her best effort.
Alisa is still on the way up but Jelena has been a YE #1, a slam finalist and multiple Tier I winner.

Alisa is far from that. She's still outside the top 20

Nobody was comparing their career and don't forget Alisa is only 20. Jankovic had nothing at 20, oops, I forgot she had a 12 losing streak.:tape:

yes, but she started playing tennis with 10 years old, so naturally she blossomed later than most players :awww: :inlove:

Don't forget she didn't want to lack formal education so she went to regular school. She wasn't practicing all day long like some other players. :awww:

Young sir ...

Never underestimate the importance of a good education. ;)

Anyone with a tennis IQ above 50 will also recognise Jankovic is a good player.

Not hall-of-fame career proportions perhaps, but one any of us here would be rightfully proud. Agreed ?

I didn't say she is not a good player, she is good but not great like many JJ fans seems to think.

She may not be great, but her name will be among the greats of this sport just for the fact she ended last year as #1. She's only 9th player to do so.

Huge serving from Kleybanova. I'd like her to win this title, but she won't.

Why? She is playing Govortsova in the semis who she is more than capable to beat. And then it is Francheska or Alona. Yes, both of them are in great form, but still both are beatable.

Jankovic was in top 20 at the age of 20.
I don't see Kleybanova there. Yet.
