Good job Patty but you should have closed it at 5-4.

Kim back to training. Too much celebration I guess. What's up with the serve honey?

Oct 22nd, 2009, 11:15 PM
Clijsters played one of the worst matches since she came back tonight and Patty some how was playing one of the best she's played since 2007.

Clijsters was making way too many errors and her serve was atrocious today. And she was probably irritated and annoyed for starting so late. On her Twitter she even complained that the matches today were taking so long.

Oh well, this title was clearly yours, practice the next two months... work that damn serve!

Nice win for Patty! :)
Almost chocked it away, but was deserved!

Kim was bad, but hasnt played since US Open, I guess she also was not motivated enough for Luxemburg, she will be stronger again at the bigger events!

Now Sabine has better chances against Patty, I think

How did you see the match?!

You didn't need to see the match, look at the stats. Patty was holding serve quite comfortably most of the time, and she does not have an impressive serve.

While on the other hand, Clijsters was making errors and her serving was horrible, she couldn't get a first serve in.

Really, I would have bet a million dollars in this match if i had the money for clijsters to win... how can the US Open champ lose to a slumping player like her, and she already lost to Kim in straight sets this year

I guess it was time to put Jada in bed, and Kim was irritated because she was still playing... stupid organizers to put the star of the tournament in the last match... The strangest match this season

As I have mentioned before, Patty has become a better player indoors in the last few years.
She's able to hit her backhand flatter than she's ever been able to and if that shot is on then it makes it easier for her to setup on her forehand.

After years of following this woman I still can't figure her out. It's funny to see the reactions of these people who are saying how many errors Kim hit when the match wasn't even televised. I doubt Kim will lose too much sleep over this, she just won a Grand Slam and Patty has always been a good friend. Her fans should follow suit and quit being so psychotic.

Now she will lose next round against Lisicki...she is never able to follow up big wins this year (lost to Kanepi of all people after beating Serena).

Anybody who has been following tennis for the last decade knows how ridiculously talented Patty is and when things click for her she can beat pretty much anyone and has done. Hopefully she can build on this win and get a few more - she's almost as good indoors as she is on the clay when everything is going well for her.

So true... She's just so crazily talented right? She has the most confusing spin in the women's tour and has one of the most excellent drop shots. I just think that sometimes she lacks concentration and motivation to win matches. I hope her win against Clijsters provides her plenty of boost for her match against Lisicki.

Good to see Schnyder's still kicking around, her forehand is fun to watch.

ZoMG!1!!11!

Maybe I'll dig into this thread to find comments from the people who watched it on the livestreams.

For now, my guess is that Clijsters knows better than to waste energy in MM tournaments, and there's also the matchup issue: ever since she returned to competition, Clijsters has struggled somewhat when players take to moonballing into her BH side - which is Schnyder's game by default. But they were 6-2 before this, so I'm probably just talking rubbish as usual.
