Pretty entertaining match.
Hopefully this gives Cornet some confidence, she played rather well.

When you are among the better players in the world, it's quite normal you get some 'easy' draws... no?!?

Step in the basseline more often...
Everyone need to step in the baseline to beat Yania.and push her back.

Cornet is still shit. Fighting a bit better than she has done for a while, but she is doing absolutely nothing with the ball. Too many errors for that kind of gamestyle, too.

That is a senseless comment. Did you see the play Yanina made in game 11 set 1. The score was tied at 5-5. Yanina was leading 30-0 in game 11 when Yanina returned a Cornet shot, then rushed back to her left, only to have Cornet's shot come in behind her, whereby Yanina reached out to her right and hit a winner diagonally over the net down the left sideline, which is a play that was impossible to make, let alone to create a winner on that shot. That play turned the entire ist set around.

Yanina in set 2 was down 40-15 in game 11 and came back to win that game. Cornet is a lot better player than you think. Yanina is only 20 years old and ranked 20th. She is one of the very best young players out there outside of Lisicki. :) :wavey:

Cornet was the player that was inolved in one of Safina's greatest comebacks back in February in the Quarters. I think it was the tournamnet that Mauresmo finally won. Cornet was up 5-2 on Safina. I think it was the 3rd set or 2nd set, but I think the 3rd. Cornet had won the ist set. Safina came back with the crowd behind Cornet, she choked at 5-2. Safina would play the win down saying how lucky she was, but Cornet pushed the panic button in that match.

It was in AO. R4 I believe. Cornet was finally up 52 against Dinara in the third having lost in straight sets twice in 2 weeks before that, in Hopman and Sydney.

I am really not sure what tournament it was, but I do remember watching Safina come from behind against Cornet down 2-5 in the 2nd or 3rd set, after Cornet won the ist set. It could have been in January, like you said, but I remember the match more than where it was played. All the fans were cheering for Cornet except for me,lol. :) :wavey:

Alize has to do something about that nose,it seems like she cant breath well through that trumpet. She had a Serena moment with a linejudge so poor officiating is rampant on tour.Yanina needs to do something about her neck its looking more like a linebacker s neck as the days go by.
Overall boring ball bashing match from boring players...

Petrov your right, it was Australia because Safina two rounds later lost to S. Williams. Oh my goodness, how time flies. Cornet did lose to Safina again at Medibank, but that was not the match in straight sets.

Totally agree. With that forehand, she's only competitive at 10K's on clay.

"News" like this should never see the light of day unless the guilt of the athlete in question is proven. And in this case it's very likely that Wickmayer is in fact innocent.

It's not as though Belgium has never made a mess of this sort of thing before. Remember the Kuznetsova incident for example.

Yes I remember four players were tested,Dementieva,Henin,Sveta and the fourth player s name evades me.Sveta and Dementieva were on the chopping block but Henin was not and yet all of them tested positive for the cough medicine.:tape:

News just in: Wickmayer will not be suspended.

BTW - I am sure (just my gut feeling, I obviously can't prove it) that quite a few players are on doping. Knowing the goings on in sports in general it would be very naive to think otherwise. But exactly who is guilty of it - I honestly have no idea. I only know that it would be a miracle if everyone was clean in a high profile sport like professional tennis with lots of fame and millions of dollars at stake.

I agree that it's best not to mention any names without us knowing for sure, because it would be very unfair on them if they were in fact innocent. It's a serious accusation to make and we should never be tempted to say something like that about a player just because we suspect it or (even worse) because we don't like him or her.
