Tzveti played amazingly, especially in the first set where she had 12 amazing winners. In the second she fought well and was stable and got a lil help from Vera!! I dont know if people watched the match or the 1st set but damn:devil::worship: Tzveti was just Amazing, that was top 10 tennis if not top 5!!! Vera just could not do anything on court, Tzveti's shots were so heavy, so hard!!!
Keep going Tzveti win Moscow!!! If you play like this its yours!!!
Never saw Tzveti play like this ever!!! Keep it up!

I love WTA for this :hearts:
But hey, where did it come from? This just doesn't happen, that a mediocre player from outside of top 100 (yeah, I know she was much higher, and she has potential) plays so flawless. She demolished top 10 player, and a YEC finalist just before the Masters.

Tzveti now keep playing like this, you have always had top 20 potential your head is just a loose canon sometimes, well after today I think its top 10 potential atleast!!! Damn after a disgusting year you just baffled me!!! I am speechless!!! Too bad Vera had to go out like that, she is a great player and deserved going of to Doha but today it was all Tzveti!!!

PS:- I thought JJ needed to do 1 round better than Vera to get to Doha. If they both went out in the same round, then Vera was in the Doha LINE-UP.

WTA website confirmed that if JJ and Vera lost today, JJ qualifies.

That's if Vera won today 'cos her 16th best result was worth 60pts (and Jelena's was 120pts).

Congrats Tsveti!

So here's how I think it goes ranking wise...

Vera's 16th best tournament is 60 points. She only earned 60 points in Moscow so therefore no points are added to her total. Leaving her at 3550.

JJ's 16th best tournament is 120 points. She has only earned 60 points so far in Moscow and so therefore no points will be added to her total yet. Leaving her at 3555 for the moment.

Therefore JJ is ahead of Vera in the race.

Jelena received an early gift as Tsvetana decided to play Top 10 tennis once again like she did at 2005 AO(Venus), 2008 Rome(Ana), and taking a set off Serena at 2007 French before the rain delay.

In the ist set Zvonereva was pearl harbored by Pironkova. In the 2nd set Pironkova overcame 1 bad call in game 3 and then had a wide open shot at 40-15 in game 5, but her shot landed over the baseline on the right side. It sent game 5 to Deuce with Pironkova finally winning game 5 for a 3-2 lead in set 2

In game 3 2nd set with the match tied at 1, Pironkova was leading 40-30 when it appeared her attempt at an Ace down the T was good, but it was called out. Pironkova asked for a review, where upon the call was reversed replaying the point. Vera scored the next point which eventually sent game 3 to 5 Deuces. Finally Pironkova won this game to take a 2-1 lead. Other than the battle in game 3 and game 5 in set 2, victory was never in doubt for Pironkova.

Pironkova was the better player today. It appears Pironkova is proving you can better your game with practice. Are you listening Ana Ivanovic?

Most random thing ever. I don't see how this win can prove Pironkova's potential of breaking top 20 whereas she has already proved she was unable to play consistently all year long. Unless you have such a run in Grand Slam, playing above your level for one match doesn't make you a top 20 player.

Pironkova once beat Venus in a set 6-0 and is tied with Venus 1-1 in that series. She is 0-1 vs Serena, but lost 5-7,6-1. 1-6. She just turned 22 in Setember. It's not too late to make a dent in the WTA. It should be a fabulous 2010 WTA season.

Well you should have watched the match than because especially in the first set Tzveti had the most amazing winners I have probably seen all year, hitting amazing angles, winners from defense, some of the shots were just :worship:!!! Some one who watched the 1st set back me up. It was an unbelivable performance in the 1st set and the second was good too but with more of Vera helping out.
Tzveti has game she just hasnt showed it all year and thats very unfortunate, because she is capable of a lot.
By the way her 1st serve was very good today and won her quite a bit of points, I think 80 percent and higher when she got it in. Very solid.
I dont know if there are any videos yet, except a bit on the wta tour site of today's results in moscow.

Pironkova was walking on water here. It wasn't just the spectacular winners - she didn't put a foot wrong in the whole of the match. Imagine if she had a FH - it didn't even need to be a good FH, just a FH, instead of whatever it is she uses to push/loop the ball from that side.

Zvonareva faced the same problem as always: whereas players like Ratwanska or Pushniacki play a game that brings their opponents down to their own level, Zvonareva's fluid, aesthetically pleasing but generic game has the opposite effect; not only does it fail to throw on fire opponents off their rhythm, it actually helps them to find it and raise their own games.

Tszveti's rally FH is about the worst shot in the top 100. Her kill FH can be an absolute monster, but I feel that her technique requires way too much strain for her to ever consistently flatten her FH out. Her biggest problem with those rally FHs is where they land; on the service line, 8-10.

When Pironkova has ample time on the ball, it's meaty hitting.

Maybe it's just me, but Pironkova seems a lot more slender than recent years. She's always been an efficient, dilligent mover, but i think extra conditioning seems to have aided her more. Ironic that i see improvement in the midst of a huge slump.

I like her serve too, despite the glaring mechanics to it. Reminds me of Sprem a tad.

neither player trashed Venus at RG round 1

Pironkova beat Venus at the 1st round of Aussie but a 2-6 6-0 9-7 is hardly a trashing victory just like Bepa's victory at r16 of the french against Venus (2-6 6-2 6-4) is hardly a trashing victory
