By Richard Pagliaro - Venus eclipsed a constellation of WTA Tour stars in July. The 21-year-old American captured her second straight Wimbledon crown in July by beating Lindsay Davenport in the semifinals and Justine Henin in the final. Now, Williams has earned another honor — WTA Player of the Month for July.

It is the second time this year Williams has collected play of the month honors. Her victory over Jennifer Capriati in the Ericsson Open final helped vault Venus to Player of the Month for March. Williams joins Capriati as the only multiple winners this year. Capriati collected player of the month awards in January, April and June. Amelie Mauresmo was named player of the month in February and Jelena Dokic claimed the award in May.

The fourth-ranked Williams defeated Monica Seles on Sunday to win the Acura Tennis Classic in San Diego, California. She will be seeking her second straight U.S. Open title when the year's final Grand Slam begins on August 27th at Flushing Meadows.

Way to go, Miss Goddess from the high Heaven

i'm not worthy of thee's presence, I'm not worthy. I'm not worthy!

Keep on strutting your bad self, Venus. Reach for the unattainable! Defend New Haven, Flushing Meadows and win every tournament you enter this fall!

CanIGetAWhat, lets just hope she actually enters some fall tourneys. I think she should take a break from school the way she does from tennis.

I sure hope she at least makes it to number one at least once in her career. I won't, however, argue with her decision to make winning slams her priority because if I really enjoy seeing her lift those trophies even though she's not number one.
