2009 was a great year for players such as Safina, Wozniacki, Serena and Kuznetsova...

But who will be in the headlines (for all the good reasons) in 2010?

Will Clijsters and Sharapova get back to the top and win more slams?

Will Venus play well outside of Wimbledon?

Will Safina trump her accomplishments this year and win a slam next year?

Will Dementieva win that elusive GS title?

In the rankins, who will fall? Who will rise?

Will Henin cement her name in the top 5 after almost two years of not playing?

Make your predictions for who will prosper in 2010.

Wickmayer to go top 10 is my prediction! clijsters, henin, sharapova also to feature in top 10 at some stage, i think lisicki will rise as well top 20

I think 2010 will be very similar to 2005/6 with Sharapova, Henin, Clijsters and Serena at the top... All the pretenders will sink down the rankings to where they should be.

i also think Jankovic and Zvonereva will fall out the top 10 and possibly azarenka too

Zvonereva has been injured alot this seaosn, i think she could end top 5 next season if stays healthy, maybe not because of her talent, but because shes consistant in the way Jankovic was couple of years ago.

Provided she stays free of injuries, big season coming for Dokic.

It's not a question of if for Dementieva. It's a question of when and how often.

Obviously, I'm talking about breaking my heart, not winning majors. Yet I remain as smitten as the first time I spotted those perfect bangs and that Full Body Rotation Screaming Forehand of Death...

I'm sorry, but what makes you think that she'll suddenly become healthy? She had a big injury each year for quite a while now, I don't think that Vera can manage a whole year being healthy.

Dunno but looks like next year's slam winners are going to be Serena, Henin, Venus, Clijsters :tears:

JJ and Demented will dominate so cruelly, they'll send them all into retirement. :rocker2:

How much longer do we have to wait for Sloane? She's sort of on my radar, but my obsession with Lena D and her bangs leaves me very little time to focus on players who you know, actually still have hope.

I think hantuchova will be in top 10 again and win some bigger tournament like IW ;) Masha and Kim will be in top 10, Lisicki will make a good result on Grandslam, Masha will win Grandslam. 2010 will be good for Wickmayer, Wozniacki and Cirstea :)

Hope it will come true :hearts:;)

If Sharapova stays healthy, she will be up there with Henin and Clijsters. I am expecting big things from Sabine and and Wickmayer. Hercog and Chang should also move up. Klaybanova and Pav should move up as long as their bodies hold up. They both need some physical conditioning, but both players have a lot of talent. Pironcova is showing me at 5ft11" that she now poses a threat to any player wants a piece of her. She is no fluke and she's still only 22.

This is the joke of the century (Hantuchova), right? You may be a fan but be realistic! I find her hard to come in top20, ...top10? Never!

Oudin should enter top20, at least

I know that dinara had good results in the first half of the year but she really got through s lot of the matches on fight and heart alone, how she did it so many times is beyond me and i commend her for that greatly but her play was honestly pretty brutal for the most part of the year, i am not very positive she will get away with it next year, she either lifts her play somehow or if she continues to play like she has her ranking will plummet, the competition will be a lot stiffer next year.

The money for WTA events has never been better.
Sharapova got $375,000 for Tokyo
Sveta got $775,000 for Beijing.
Moscow winner gets $167,000
Next week's Doha winner can get up to $1.5 million.

And these are all WTA events, after the last major.

So a lot of players will prosper in 2010

Why the hell does everyone think that Henin will come back and suddenly win slams...? justbecause Kim did it. I highly doubt she will. Maybe win a few titles and get to a SF MAYBE at a slam...

I'm wondering if Kim may feel the heat from Justine coming back. Just a thought..

I think Sharapova will definitely be back in top 10 if not top 5.

Safina is gonna have it rough next year with all the points she has to defend until the USO series.

V&S Will be V&S and win big somewhere.

Next year is a critical year for Azarenka & Wozniacki. They have to book their keeps in the top 10 and have to start beating top 10 players week in and week out. Not just at a few random spots during the year.

Jankovic & Ivanovic are going to have to put 2009 behind them, more so Ivanovic. You gotta wonder if they missed their chance to cash in, especially Jankovic.

Look for Wickmayer & Lisicki to make moves. Lisicki has to get in better shape.

Kuznetsova & Dementieva....well...we all know how that goes.

Amelie will give it one last push, and I feel like she has one great moment left in her. Even if it's just getting back into a slam final, without winning it, I just have the feeling she has something left.

I think by the end of the year, there's gonna be a clumping somewhere in the rankings of Sharapova, Kim, Justine (in that order preferably), around the 4, 5, 6 mark. I think Justine will come back somewhat strongly, but I honestly don't think she'll win a slam.

Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova dominate the slams.
