Sooooo many retirements lately
Really weird way to end the match. Watching replay and once it was done, you just saw them shaking the judge's hand.

Flavia  Get ready for Fed Cup.
Agnes :yeah: Good luck in the next round!

After Pennetta was injured she was hitting most of Szvay's shots right down the middle. . Pennetta tried to continue but she had nothing to play with. She had a legitimate calf injury. It's very sad.

Shame for Flavia but what a great season from her - she should be very proud. Reminds me a lot of Chanda Rubin the way she constructs her points

She had an injury in 1st set. Had a timeout to get treatment. And was obviously struggling with it in 2nd set.

So can't see whats strange about that.

Poor Flavia

Good job Ági :) I know this sounds kind of lame, but I'm glad she was able to even stay in the match after losing the first set, I mean she completely gave up in the second set of her last two matches. Well hopefully she can beat Dushevina and qualify for Bali :yeah:.

Pennetta can take some time off and prepare for the Fed Cup :armed:.

Depends on what it is originally. In Qatar the official language is Arabic (I guess) and I don`t know how they pronounce it.The language here on the forum is English, yes, but still I`m sure everyone knows where Moskva, Wien, Venezia or München are. And who Vaidišova, Janković and Šarapova are.

So - let people write it whatever they want.;)

They pronounce it as 'ad-doha' ;) you can check it here:

past الدوحة and choose arabic :)

Hm, thanks, but I don`t know what to do with this link ... I can write "Ad-Doha" and hear how Heather would pronounce it in US English:confused: (or choose another English, German, Russian and some others - but no Arabic)
If I click Arabic, I get three Arabic voices speaking about I don`t know what - but can`t make them to pronounce Doha. (or الدوحة

The spelling 'Dauha' reflects the fact that in Modern Standard Arabic, the first vowel is the diphthong /aw/, as in English 'now'. In many varieties of Arabic, this is actually pronounced as a long /o/, which is why English has 'Doha'. Modern Standard Arabic is the conservative version of the language understood throughout the Arabic-speaking world and only has three basic vowels, /a/, /i/, and /u/. Actual local dialects differ quite a bit from this and from each other. The same Arabic name often can be romanized in several different ways depending on which pronunciation one uses.

second year in a row Flavia will miss Doha while -probably- deserving it more than others, but that injury seems to be worse than expected...i saw her in Linz while she got it and was painful for her, but now it looks terrible...luckily Fed Cup is on clay...:sobbing:

I'm happy Agnes gets to move forward, but it's quite sad to see a match like this.

Hopefully Flavia gets better in the offseason.

I thought Agnes had already qualified for Bali...

I love watching Szavay. I don't even care how badly she plays. Her backhand is just a sweeping stroke. It's gorgeous.

Ugly match today though, with Flavia completely running on empty. No Doha, but a landmark year for her and Italian tennis really.

I'm glad, even though in bad circumstance, that Agnes has a chance to improve and regain some glimmers of confidence.

So sad for Flavia being injured.....my fav is gone.
Agi great too- so if had to be anyone to lose/retire too glad it was Agi. Please, for f sake Agi, use this opportunity. Win the f tournie.

Crap reulst all day here and Lux, only good one was A Bond defeating Nasty Nadia.

I very cynical-cheeky part of me thinks Flavia prob didn't want to go further than Agi here so she could end the year 11 and play wear she wants (as in Bogata, Acapulco, maybe the smaller Spanish events) not saying ehr injury isn't legit and the WTA says ret due to knee- so hope not serious. Hope she all ok for Italy's def of uSa in a few weeks!

First time I saw Szavay play since Budapest - immediately after a series of dismal results, so my expectations were as low as can be. She performed OK, considering her limitations. Played from too far behind the baseline, and I'm beginning to suspect that the reason she struggles so much to keep up in high pace rallies has more to do with the time she requires to properly set up her shots (which is a lot) than with her lack of agility.
