OMG, you are amazing, Maria. I just love when she beats Radwanska :inlove:

She could actually go far here with Schiavone being the best player in her section. Good luck against Wozniak! :D

Agnieszka

Kiri was great, serving really well. But I think she played better in US Open.
At the same time Aga was really bad today.
The worst thing is she came back to her passive tennis  it's not a good omen for 2010

good, a.rad does not deserve to qualify for doha above jankovic or zvonareva who have both won big titles this year

it'll be interesting to see how a.rad does next year as she has been playing at the same level for around 2 years now...the pressure is really on for her to step up next year

If she doesn't, then she's a classless cow. Maria played really great out there, probably one of her best matches this year. Hitting beautiful winners, great serves and she never looked like cracking under pressure. A really good and solid perfomance from Maria and she deserves credit.

As Adal said:
Well it's true. You don't have to do anything special to beat Radwanska.

I personally think Kiri played better here, didn't seem that prone to make errors, keeping Aga under pressure the whole time.
In both cases, Kiri was clearly the better play though and Aga is just making herself look like a fool by saying her opponents don't have to do anything to beat her :tape: I mean, wouldn't you rather lose to someone playing really good so you look less awful?

Btw, I'm sure Kiri knows she played a great match. She doesn't need no hoe telling her that.

"I was feeling a bit tired and exhausted. I was trying hard because I was still in with a chance of qualifying for Doha, but it wasn't my day today," Radwanska said. "Maria didn't make any mistakes today. I really want to play against her fully fit - I was a little bit injured before the US Open and now I played 14 matches coming into this match, so I think I need a third match against her!"

I don't see why aga need to dig deep in Moscow, given Zvonareva and JJ are already half foot to the QF and Final.
Even if aga wins the whole thing, then play the SEC, I don't think this would be a good idea as well.
Why don't rest well for this year and practise for next year?

MartinUla and his drama thread titles :weirdo:
We all knew Aga wouldn't do well in Moscow. It was obvious after her Linz performances and there was no way she would fully recover for today. So it's not an excuse it's a fact.

That of course doesn't change the fact that Maria played well and deserved the win. And I don't see Agnieszka saying it wasn't the case.

The pretty girl beating the ugly one, just like in real life.

Kirilenko is stuck in a sort of limbo - she can do nearly everything on a tennis court, but isn't top tier in any of it; she isn't fast and consistent enough to rank among the Tour's top defenders, and lacks the raw firepower to blast anyone off the court.

But in this match, interestingly, a slow and spent Radwanska actually allowed Kirilenko to successfully play like a counterpuncher (which is probably the way she'd like to play against everyone I suppose), defending when necessary and taking the game to Radwanska when possible, something she usually can't do when facing power baseliners. Even against journeywomen in the lower tier events in which she briefly became an expert back in 2007-2008, Kirilenko struggled both when she was forced to take the initiative in every single point (when facing pushers) and when she found herself constantly on the defensive and unable to counterattack (when facing bigger hitters).

Other than that, Kirilenko served well and went to the net to force a decision with a good rate of success (both of which she'd also do later on against Wozniak).
