I ask because with all of the talk of Wozniacki overplaying this year, similar to Jankovic in prior years, I looked at the current rankings and Sandra Zahlavova is listed playing 38 tournaments. Out of curiosity, I noticed that she entered all 4 slams, but lost early enough to enter the ITF event playing the 2nd week of the slam. The only gap in her year is the mandatory Indian Wells/Miami.

38? Where did you see that? I'm looking at the WTA page and it shows 28. According to that, the most tourneys in this 52-week period is 34 by Patrcia Mayr.

Edit.- You're right. I looked at another player.

Zahlavova was at 41 once, if I remember correctly.

Is Zahlavova crazy? I mean no wonder when she won't be able to play one day due to injuries...

ATP doubles player James Cerretani played 45 or 46 tournaments last year, IIRC.

Yep. You got it. My mistake. It's the only Zahlavova that I'm seeing in the rankings list.

Zahlavova always plays huge number of tournaments, but not that many matches. So far in 2009, she has played less matches in singles than Wozniacki, Pennetta, Wickmayer etc. Plus, she has played one doubles match in 2009.

Zahlavova must spend more time travelling and packing unpacking moving into hotels than she does practising, which is why she bombs out early, and can then travel again. It's a vicious cycle.

Well if one comes off a 10 tournament 1R losing streak, and just start winning, could you blame them for tournament whoring?
