Pironkova needed 2,5 hours to defeat her opponent that hit 60+ UE's :spit:

DEATH @ Pironkova saying Pavlyuchenkova played very well :haha: :rolls:

Nastya :fiery:

You can't win a match if you make 62 UEs and 13 DFs !

Really ugly match from Anastasia. But the way she saved these 5 match points was nice.

It was the first match win for Pironkova since back in April at Stuttgart. Pavlyuchenkova ist service percentage was only 40% in the ist set and only 46% for the match. Pav took a page out of a bad Kuznetsova match by hitting almost all her unforced errors over the baseline or wide.

Pironkova did a much better job of covering the court while Pav looked fairly slow on defense. Pav failed on 5 of 7 drop shots, but had several chances for winners in each set, but seemed to overhit too many shots. Pav blew a 3-1 lead in the 3rd set with Pironkova winning the next 4 games, taking a 5-3 lead

Nastya, 63 UE? :help:

Score keeper must have been generous. It looked like more to me. What made it more bizarre and remarkable is that there was this period in the middle where Nastya won 6 games in a row playing, I have to say, brilliant tennis. Those six games just make the rest of Pavlyuchenkova's performance all that much more unfathomable. Nastya can obviously play very good tennis as her results have shown but she appears to have no control over when her ability to do so will emerge in her. Very Jekyll/Hyde.

Well done Tsveti :yeah:

Nastya led 3-0 in third having won six games in a row. She proceeded to lose the next five.

I tell you, it's all Russian conspiracy :devil::lol::lol::lol: :

Zvonareva needs QF to have a chance to qualify. After Olaru in 1st round, Pavlyuchenkova is more danger than Pironkova. Now, Vera's way to QF is open.

I will not be surprised if A-Bond will beat Nadia, so Vera could find it even more easy...

Nastya was winning easily. winning 6 games in a row. 3-0 lead in the 3rd set.
Then she relaxed, figuring she had this match in the bag. :help:

Vera and Nadia are very far from being friends.

Pavlyuchenkova's attitude and game was horrible. Pironkova did nothing. :o

And the on-court interviewer sucked big time.

well based on her stats, she obviously caught the tennis bug Venus had in the last match they played. it finally took effect.

i just watched the first set and it was a pretty enjoying match to watch. 60 errors is really not that much for such a long match especially 13 of them being double faults. what came into my eye first however was how nastya has improved her forehand. tsveti too/ but to a lesser extent.

by the way, can someone tell me how is that a bombshell?

Tsveti really has had a terrible year...

Her game just has not been there... Even today she was playing pretty average pusher tennis, its just that Pavlyuchenkova was worse... I actually stopped watching at 0-3 Final set cuz I thought Pironkova had no chance the way she was playing, no winners and still a heap of scrappy errors...

Find some confidence Tsvetana... Get that game back !

I watched it from 3:0 in the thrid set and all I can say is that Nastya balbashed her her way out of the tournament and all Pironkova did was deliver the ball to the opposite side of the net. Can't blame her though, good tactic as Pav would hand her every point
