Kuznetsova. More spin, more margin for error, more pace, more everything.

Sveta unless she tries to hit a crazy winner.

Lena has (much) more control over the shot but Sveta's forehand is (much) bigger.

I find myself in awe of Lena's forehand. It's like she can load up and unwind in the blink of an eye. I think she has better control of her forehand than Kuznetsova. Sveta has gobs of topspin, but even that doesn't stop her from piling up UEs. But when they're on, their forehands can put up some highlight clips. Seeing that she's losing this poll and because I'm a helpless 'tard even when she's crazy, I'll vote for Lena.

Even if I tried to justify my choice, no one would believe me anyway. Plus Lena had better bangs.

Sveat but it varies.... but I think Sveta's forehand gets her more than Dementieva's does her

Margin for error? No.

Anyway, it is precisely as AnnaK_4ever pointed out. Dementieva has the more solid, consistently delivering FH while Kuzzy (;)) owns the far more lethal of the two. Which one you think is "better" depends on your definition of the word and also, probably, which player you like better. For me it's Dementieva.

Lena disappoints her fans more than Sveta does....and that's saying something! :tape:

Dementieva's is more solid  Sveta's is more explosive.. Hard to compare but the FH (and movement) has really compensated for the lack of serve for the most part of Lena's career. So I would say Lena..

Yeah she does. Dementieva's is flat flat flat. No margin whatsoever. Kuznetsova on the other hand won the French Open with her forehand alone.

Overall, I'll say Svetlana has the more effective heavier forehand, although it can be wild on the faster surfaces where her timing on that shot is challenged. I prefer Elena's though, because it always looks like she's in control of the shot. I'm not a fan of how Svetlana whales at the ball as though the racket were a club.

I'm voted based on them playing at their peaks. Even at her peak, Sveta makes lots of errors. However, it has lots of pop and a boatload of variety. She could flatten it out and she'd go DTL as often as she would CC. Her off-forehand was also  And she slices well with it. Her FH angles are also pretty terrific.

With Elena, well, it came flat and fast and more often than not, crosscourt. This makes her FH predictable, but the pace at which it comes at you, no matter how predictable usually leaves her opponents helpless. And her FH on the run is amazing too. However, she lacks the variety.

At times, it seems that Elena has the better FH simply because her serve is atrocious and her BH is mediocre while Sveta has a decent serve and good BH.

So I voted for Sveta.

When Sveta is playing well theres not a better forehand on the tour. And thats no disrespect to Elena, hers is great too.

Lena's forehand already passed its peak and will never win a GS

A. You know what I'm going to say.

B. You know I'm right.

C. Kuzzy never would have won in '04 if Lena still had 'em.

Honey, edit that post and put a b-reference in, stat!

About the poll, Sveta.

My defense is the reference to bangs is so strongly implied that actually mentioning them would be merely redundant.

I take your point. But surely just a quick musing or maybe even anecdote of the bangs would satisfy your many legions of fans that crave the Golden Word every time you post.

I've heard people compare Elena's forehand to Steffi's, many commentators actually. It's just not as good. :o

Svetlana has a typical ballbasher forehand, just loaded with spin. It works, and it's flashier, but Elena overall has a better forehand. Fewer winners, more control. Even at Elena's best, her forehand was far less sporadic than Svetlana's.

Plus I love how Elena sets up for the forehand, gets down so low, and just wacks at it. :hearts: Perfect positioning and footwork, great technique. Svetlana is so lazy with it.

Elena's forehand is so much more precise. She can hit her spots with her forehand so well, especially her IOF. Much better preparation than Sveta's, who i feel sometimes has undulating contact points with her forehand.

Kuzetsova's has more easy power coming off the strings. It's a bludgeoning shot.

Like Ludwig said though, her footwork is not consistently able to deliver the pace and accuracy. Elena's near-seamless footwork gives her so much help.

I recall a match at Indian Wells in which Dementieva praised Kuzzie's forehand for being so deep and heavy.
She mentioned she had so much trouble retrieving it with much on it.

So I'm gonna have to go with what Elena says.

Lena's fitness excells Kuznetsova's and Lena is a better mover around the court.

Looks better in jeans.
I had an OMG moment at one of the player's parties a few years ago.
Elena was wearing these jeans that look like they were painted on.

As much as I would like to defend my, I mean Kuzzie's thunder thighs, they just don't look amazing in jeans.

Wawrinka's ass.
