It was a colossal boring watch to match in front of 300 fans.

that was kind of depressing, chak looked slow (which is probably down to the foot) and lifeless. i just have no clue how shes going to turn this around. she looks like a beaten player

alona played solid, happy for her.

Alona had a 3-0 lead in the ist set, but Chakvatadze came right back to tie the ist set at 4-4, but Alona won the next 2 games. Their was no action in either set, let alone the boring announcer that called the match. A complete waste of time, lol.

I don't think that Anna was so bad. It was her 1st match in 2 months after injury. She played fine in big parts of the match, it would be big surprise if she would win the match. I expected much worse performance from her but it wasn't that bad....

Not so bad from Anna for me, but she has the same problem of some of the Matches in 2009, good points and then too many unforced errors.

Alona :yeah: Only needed to play solid for the victory, i also think you have a good chance of beating Petrova again!

Anna :awww: Imploded with far too many return errors needlessly long. Signs of life from 4-1 to 4-4 in 1st set. Please bring the old Chakky back!
Annas face after a challenge showing Alonas shot dead on the line :haha::hearts:

Alona is such a joy to watch when her game is (half) on. Effortless ballstriking and defense.

Not too bad a scoreline on first match back from injury. Could have been worse. Didn't see the match but the reports from here don't sound too good.

thank goodness someone put Anna out of her misery, just looking at her face is enough to tell anyone that she has zero confidence.I like it that she is losing a lot because she is very bitchy and karma is biting her in the butt, the only person I feel sorry for is her father who has to endure all these losses.Until she changes her pissed off attitude she will continue to lose, its been 2 years since the home invasion and she is still in the funk.
I hope she drops out of the top 100 like Nicole and disappear from tennis because she is not liked by THE majority of players and her negative demeanor on court is off putting, who will pay to see her pissed off self .....today there were like 50 people watching her play in her own country.:p:rolleyes:
She needs another reality check:p:tape:
Anna grow up!!or check out of tennis

My thoughts exactly.

The match was somewhat poor, but then again there isn't a match played at the Kremlin Cup that doesn't feature a horrible UE to winner ratio and tons of errors out of the blue from usually consistent players, so I assume some of that is due to the playing surface.

Chak's game is still there. Her serving was OK, and she actually managed to play some her unique game here and there. BH was shaky though. A couple of service games she brainfarted away with wild errors did her in, but other than that she was competitive, at least in the 2nd set when she found her groove (in some patches of the 1st, she did look like an ordinary player, not going for her shots yet still missing a lot). Signs of rustyness in that her footwork was lazy (trouble running to her FH side as well) and her anticipation and reflexes, usually razor sharp, were poor - her ROS suffering the most from that.

As for Alona, she played well I think. Was unusually aggressive, particularly on ROS, and played very solid throughout.

Bottom line, as itzhak says, this wasn't a match Chak was supposed to win, and this wasn't a match that she threw away due to confidence issues.
