Pavly vs. Vera in 2R :o:o

I really want Pavly to win but otherwise I want Vera to qualify for Doha :o Hopefully JJ loses in 1R

Oct 17th, 2009, 12:23 PM
It's stupid that the biggest tennis force on the WTA only gets this. Moscow should be Premier 5 at least.

Oct 17th, 2009, 12:48 PM
Radwanska, Pennetta and Zvonareva please lose in 1st round xD :p

Oct 17th, 2009, 12:55 PM
yesss martina hingis will go too at moscow for the show :) :)

Oct 17th, 2009, 12:57 PM
its ok, but what do you expect the week before the YEC when the top 3 RUS have already qualified.

Oct 17th, 2009, 12:59 PM
Compare this to stanford :o

Oct 17th, 2009, 01:11 PM
Imo, it's not that bad.

There should be some great matches in this tourney with players fighting for that last YEC spot. :bounce:

Oct 17th, 2009, 01:17 PM
Jankovic has the toughest quarter by faaaaar.

Oct 17th, 2009, 01:20 PM
They ruined this tournament. :(

Oct 17th, 2009, 01:24 PM
I love Maria Jose´s luck :(

Oct 17th, 2009, 01:54 PM
The top 2 seeds were last year's finalists.
ACHAK and Nadia were recent finalists. So was Fran.
Just missing Elena.

Oct 17th, 2009, 01:56 PM
where is dementieva?

Oct 17th, 2009, 01:59 PM
Resting for the YEC. Too much tennis for her at age 28.

Oct 17th, 2009, 02:17 PM
A little surprised it's asstrong as it is. Thought a lot of players might be in Luxembourg trying to qualify for Bali.

Oct 17th, 2009, 02:19 PM
:) :)

Oct 17th, 2009, 03:07 PM
meh. its not THAT bad

Oct 17th, 2009, 03:23 PM
It could be stronger for my liking, but to respond to the OP question it could be way weaker especially due to timing

Oct 17th, 2009, 03:32 PM
Actually yes, It could be weaker.

Oct 17th, 2009, 04:35 PM
shvedova first NO!! GO JJ GO!!

Oct 17th, 2009, 04:38 PM
C'mon JJ! you can win this title!! GET IT GIRL!

Oct 17th, 2009, 05:08 PM
I'm excited about it. There might not be as many big names in action but most of the first round matches look very competitive and evenly matched.

Oct 17th, 2009, 06:15 PM

Oct 17th, 2009, 06:19 PM
Could it be any weaker ?.

yes it could. Imagine Safina and Tankrena playing.

Oct 17th, 2009, 06:46 PM
It's not weak at all there are a lot of good players

Oct 17th, 2009, 06:57 PM

Break My Rapture
Oct 17th, 2009, 07:09 PM
Larry Scott destroyed this wonderful tournament :sobbing:
Look at last year's player list and date, much better :sobbing:
But there should be some great matches. Go Vera, Kiri and Yanina :)

Oct 17th, 2009, 07:24 PM
I'm afraid Aga is losing in R2 if not in the opener..

Oct 17th, 2009, 07:26 PM
oooh Yaroslava-Jelena again

Oct 17th, 2009, 07:46 PM
They ruined this tournament. :(

Totally. And they've ruined the whole Autumn European season. Linz was downgraded. You may wonder why they kept Linz, Luxembourg and Moscow, which now looks like a MM tourney. I'm sure they will downgrade that one too.

Oct 17th, 2009, 09:05 PM
I'm afraid Aga is losing in R2 if not in the opener..
She should withdraw in first round and ask Bali for a wildcard.

Oct 17th, 2009, 10:18 PM
Is Domi officially back? If so :woohoo:

Oct 18th, 2009, 12:45 AM
The problem is that the European Autumn indoor season has been gutted with the loss of WTA Champs, Zurich, and Stuttgart. There isn't enough left to attract the top players to Europe after the USO

Oct 18th, 2009, 03:24 AM
Now is II leavl tournament
It is not weak

Oct 18th, 2009, 07:46 AM

it should be just as long as the ATP season
another month of indoor tennis :bounce:

Oct 18th, 2009, 09:04 AM
I literally can't believe Dementieva's not playing here???

Oct 18th, 2009, 09:39 AM
Like almost everyone on this board I lament the extreme shortening (of should I just say total destruction) of the Autumn European indoor season. We should certainly be having WTA tennis right through to the end of November. Sure the WTA has to be aware of the physical demands placed on the players but I believe what does the players in isn't long seasons so much as when they have to play 5,6 or even more weeks in a row, particularly when players go on a roll for 3 or 4 consecutive weeks on the tour we often see it take it's toll afterwards.

All that said, do I find the Moscow draw weak? Not at all, I love it. Of course I'm a bit biased as so many of my favourite players are here. And I'm a bit disappointed by how they were drawn too. On the other hand this tournament has some of the most mouth-watering 1st round matches we have seen in some time. Should be a fine tournament.
