Surgery ends Jarka’s season

Successful surgery on her injured foot has prematurely ended Jarka’s 2009 season. Following the advice of her doctors, Jarka underwent surgery on Tuesday in Canberra, removing two pieces of chipped bone and strengthening her ligaments in the process. She will begin a six-week rehab program immediately.

“I am obviously disappointed to see my season end like this. However, surgery went well and I am already moving my foot and trying to walk gingerly. I am scheduled to be back in time for the new season and already look forward to competing during the Australian summer.” :sad:

She'll drop to about 113 in the ranks.

Be interesting w/c situation then - USA, Asia, French and Justine take 4. You'd expect Casey, Alicia, Liv and then Jarka would take the next 4. Has it ever been this straight forward??
Unless someone out of the pack wins the w/c playoff.

Casey can use her protected ranking can't she? otherwise that does seem pretty simple :lol:

Hope Jarka recovers quickly. She had a pretty disapointing season considering how she finished off the season this time last year, looked very promising.

Won't she be able to protect her ranking at all using the injury clause. She has not played since Sept, so if she does not play until AO that would be 4 months.

She's still in the top 100 for now. She's down to 83 though.

What a shame! Jarka was going so well. Hopefully she will come back strongly better than ever. I totally agree with Louloubelle too re the wild cards.

Shame, lets hope she has good season next year - i met her and she is so nice!
