Serb Ana Ivanovic at the players party; she is currently ranked 8th in the world
Toronto, CANADA - World #8 Ana Ivanovic has arrived at Toronto for the Rogers Cup tournament with the intent to take the title. Despite losing to World #1 Maria Sharapova 9-7 in the third at Wimbledon, it has given her the confidence to really step up her game. "I played really well at Wimbledon but Masha played the important moments of the match so well. I hope to improve in that of the game as well." Despite a rocky start to the US Open summer series where she lost at the first hurdle to Bethanie Mattek-Sands, the past two tournaments have seen great results for the Serb losing in the finals of Los Angeles to Serena Williams and semifinals of Cincinatti to eventual champion Daniela Hantuchova.
"The results these past two weeks have been great, but it would be really nice to add a second title to the collection (won Rome). Anyway I will be going into the US Open with a lot of confidence as I'm playing really good tennis right now." Having received a bye in the first round she will face either Russian Dinara Safina or Slovenian Polona Hercog in the next round. In the doubles event, she is planning to play with her conqueror last week Daniela Hantuchova, whom she had won the prestigious Wimbledon title with.

Won with authority
Gisela Dulko came from winning a major title that had put very high level. Defeated great players in one tournament and had everything to make that leap and reach the top of the ranking.
But a parting of the tournament insperada previous problems with her boyfriend Feliciano Lopez, Gisela has caused problems in their concentration and miss tennis match that should win.
At a tournament in Toronto, Dulko come back and defeated Agnieszka Radwanska 6-4 6-2 and leave a light of hope for their fans.
Her next opponent, the dangerous Venus Williams

Pavlyuchenkova ups her game to defeat Cornet once again
On the NTT tour there has been an epic rivalry spanning months between World #2 and former #1 Alizé Cornet and young Russian starlet Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova. The pair first met at the Australian Open with Cornet winning in an easy 6-4, 6-1 as the Russian teen crumbled on the big stage. A few months later in Dubai, a rejuvenated Pavlyuchenkova, away from the pry of huge crowds took Cornet all the way, forcing the French woman to play her absolute best to see off the Russian in a thriller that ended at 7-5 in the third, in Cornets favour. Playing with fellow country women and the support of her nation, Anastasia was penned to face Cornet in the SF of the Fed Cup in the final rubber. Both women produced arguably the best match this season with Pavlyuchenkova winning 6-3, 4-6, 7-5. A very excited Pavlyuchenkova said after the match 'An amazing victory for me! But I will be happy when there is more on the line'. This came a few weeks later with Anastasia beating Alizé (the reigning #1) on her favourite surface 4-6, 7-5, 7-5. Pavlyuchenkova struck again beating Cornet again on Clay in Madrid 4-6, 7-5, 6-4. Many asked was this the real #1? Had Cornet finally met the match that ended her dominance as #1, as she fell to #2 the following week, losing the top spot to another Russian, Maria Sharapova. Cornet struck in at Wimbledon canning the new top 10-er, Pavlyuchenkova 6-3, 6-4 and won with the same score line in Los Angeles & Cincinatti. A disheartened Anastasia admitted she was considering a break from the game, but things changed this week when Anastasia snapped Cornets chances of returning to #1 and snapping a 3 match losing streak to her with a 5-7, 7-5, 7-5 win. We wish Anstasia the best in the QFs. The official head to head can be seen below:
Cornet leads 5-4

#7 seeds Venus Williams had to dig deep yesterday to see off the challenge of Italian Schiavone in the R16 here in Toronto.
Schiavone was the one who got off to the better start, quickly breaking Williams and opening up a 3-0 lead. Although Schiavone served for the set at 5-3, she was unable to close it out and Venus came up with some clutch tennis to level up at 5-5. However another sloppy service game, which included 2 double faults, handed Schiavone the advantage once more. This time Schiavone would not let her opportunity slip, serving the set out 7-5 on her second set point.
The second set started tight with the first 4 games all going with serve. However, from 2-2 it was all about Venus who came up with some huge first serves and some breathtaking winners to take the next 4 games in a row, claiming the set 6-2 to take it into a decider.
It seemed as though the momentum was with Venus but it was Schiavone who drew first blood in the third set, holding 3-1 and 4-2 leads. Schiavone held a break point for a 5-2 lead but Venus came up with a 131mph serve which is a new world record! With that chance gone, Schiavone seemed deflated and Venus took full advantage, once again going on a run of 4 games to wrap up the final set 6-4 and book her spot in the quartefinals.
Venus said: "That was tough out there today. Fran had already played a match here so she was used to the court and the conditions, so I was a little slow to start out there today. I got things back on track at 5-5 but played a bad game there. I played a good second set and really executed well. I'm just glad I was able to dig deep in that third set and fight back from being down. And hey..... a new world record!! That feels pretty awesome!"
"I play Gisela next. She is ranked higher than me and has been having some great results. We have played twice before and are tied 1-1 so it should be a good match tomorrow. If I play well and execute properly then I have every confidence that I can make it through to the semis"
Venus Williams was visibly frustrated today as she took on #3 seed Gisela Dulko in the quarterfinals of the NTT Tour Premier 5 event in Toronto.
Things were good up until 2-2, but Venus started double faulting and spraying shots all over the place, quickly falling 5-2 down. Although she was able to hold serve for 5-3, Dulko served it out with ease the next game to take it 6-3.
The second set wasn't much better for Venus. She found herself 3-0 down and could not find a way to get back into the match, tamely surrendering 6-2 in the second set, sending her racquet flying in disgust.
Venus said: "I can't remember ever losing a match so badly in my career. I think it' safe to say that was the worst match of my career so far and hopefully it will be the worst one of my career! Nothing was workign out there today. My serve was off, my backhand was off, my forehand was just awful - not a great combination! Gisela played OK today I guess but anyone would have beaten me out there today!"
"I will fly out to New York tonight and then get practicing for the US Open. I always love playing in New York, in front of my home crowd. The US Open is definitely my main goal for the rest of the season!"

Argentina's Gisela Dulko way with great authority on American Venus Williams by 63 62 and is in the semis of the tournament final.
Yesterday we talked about how bad it came Gisela playing in his last tournament, but when Argentina's like, you can. Dulko is that this year had too many crises in his career, and knew when to play it very well, remember that he returned and won a title in this tournament and is doing the same.
After all the press found out that love Dulko had problems with Feliciano Lopez, Dulko was commissioned to clear his name playing very good tennis .
- I´m so happy for this win, Venus is a great player and she do all but she cant with my potencial, anyway good job Venus -

Argentina's Gisela Dulko lost three set against the Russian and friend Maria Kirilenko 26 64 61 in two hours of play.
Everything came perfect Dulko doing during this tournament, going to great players and playing a very high level tennis in situations I let go today by a river. Is that Argentina showed that tennis in the first set, then could not do anything about a Mary that everything we threw it into high speed and places where Dulko never came.
Also the participation of Gisela is very good for tennis and its encouragement in a week preparatory to the final Grand Slam of the year.
