Hopefully Maria reaches the QFs:awww: but I'm not really happy with the draw, but it could be worse so come on Kiri:D

Kutuzova is a big hitter but really really inconsistent, i'd be surprised if Maria lost. Peer played well the last couple of weeks, so it will be tough.

Beijing. Just if its taped up in practice means it could be bothering her a lot.

Hopefully it was only a little stinger on the top of her hand. I've had it before it lasts a few days then goes away.

Oct 12th, 2009, 06:58 AM
First set is over. IDK I just wish she would retire or something. Not like she can go far here anyways she will have to play Moscow qualies.. cause well face it she doesn't deserve a WC. Obviously isn't 100%. Can't wait till this nightmare season is over.

Nikkiri
Oct 12th, 2009, 06:58 AM

I hope it's nothing serious. At least,if she's not injured, she'll be able to play Moscow's qualies to end this awful season.

Wasn't her hand it was the knee again.

"Maria Kirilenko of Russia was forced to retire due to soreness in her left knee after losing the first set to Viktoriya Kutuzova of Ukraine 6-2."

kirivanovic
Oct 12th, 2009, 01:15 PM
What's wrong with her knee? Usually, this kind of tape is used as a precaution but it seems that it bothers her really often. Maybe her meniscus but she has never talked about it...

The knee this week  We should be able to take bets before each tournament starts on Maria's injuries :o With the season ending earlier than usual this year. Hopefully Maria will take a few weeks off after Moscow with NO PRACTICE

Why isn't Maria getting a WC into Moscow?

Oct 12th, 2009, 08:19 PM
Hi everybody!

Today, I had to finish my match against Viktoriya Kutuzova because of a knee problem. Tomorrow Iíll go home and I will try to be ready to play the Kremlin Cup in Moscow.

Thank you for all your kind messages on my website and on my Facebook. Thank you for supporting me, itís great !

Maria

I think that she didn't really want to play Osaka and that she really wants to play Moscow, that's why she retired...

You know, the very first time I saw Maria play in person (at the 2005 Rogers Cup in Toronto), she had to retire from her first-round match because of pain in her knee (I don't remember which one). I guess it was an indication of the problems to come.

kirivanovic
Oct 13th, 2009, 12:31 AM
Yes but it's never really serious, she can play the week after without much problems. If she doesn't wanna cure that knee and take some rest, she'll always have a small pain...

Nikkiri
Oct 13th, 2009, 12:57 AM

She is the highest ranked Russian not in the MD, even if no one withdraws she is going to get a WC.

Dinara should withdraw and stop her season:lol:

Safina and Dementieva are not playing Moscow because Doha is the very next week after.

They don't want to tire themselves out.

kirivanovic
Oct 13th, 2009, 07:40 PM
Safina is tired for 5 months now:rolleyes:, i thought she was playing there as usual but yeah, with the new calendar, that's a good decision.
