(Before Tokyo) Stubsur is on 5043 and only those above 3293 points (Stubsur's total - [1750] avaliable points) can overtake them...
only Ai/Hantuchova (not competing) and Medina Garrigues/Ruano Pascual are above this...
MG/RP just lost their R2 (Bye R1) - which gives them 5 points and now only 750 can be gained in the last 2 tournamnets...
MG/RP highest possible total = (4123 + 5 + 750) = 4878 points... Which is less then Stubsur's total already!!!!

:bounce::worship::bounce:!!!Stubsur has qualified for YEC!!!!:bounce::worship::bounce:

Wow congrats Sam/Rennae!!

Amazingly, Rennae's 14th WTA Championships. Proves how long she has continued to be a factor in women's doubles at the very highest level. Also impressive is that it's her 6th in a row, since it's been held for the top 4 only. :worship: Amazing to think every year Rennae usually finds herself at the YEC. Even in a year like this, they were having terrible results early on and only 2 semi finals by the French Open, yet still she always finds a way, and turned around her season emphatically.

Congrats to them, both have won the YEC before;)
Bluber, WS, Stosur/Stubbs, Martinez Sanchez/Llagostera Vives this is going to be a GREAT YEC, the best teams of the year. Kind of hoped Sugiyama would get 1 last chance at winning a YEC, but nope:(

Stosur/Stubbs though are the only team not to have won a title this year.

Yeah I'm definitely looking forward to it. No doubt these are the 4 teams that deserve it the most. Bluber and WS will be on opposite halves I think.

But I still wish it was 8 teams like it used to be. French Open champs don't even get to play, neither do Hantuyama or other teams that have done well this year.

All this reminds me Lisa will not have played a YEC since 2006. :o She was 2 in the race during RG! :bigcry: and she qualified in 07 too but Sam was ill. :(

They should be on opposite halves, if the best 2 teams have to play each other in the first round/semis that would be crazy.

I, too, miss the old format, much more doubles then just 3 matches played on the last 2 days:o And AMG/VRP don't really deserve to play considering winning RG was all they did this season.:o

I have no expectations of Lisa anymore, her career has been amazing, I will be happy for her no matter what happens from now on, she has done pretty much everything, but one thing and that is ALL I want her to do now and that is win AO Mixed:p

Now Sam and Rennae take the title

That would be funny  As neither player has won a title all year

In fact Sammy hasn't won a title since Eastbourne 07 w/ Raymond. :sobbing:

I want Raymond and Stosur to play together again! :hysteric:

We don't know yet, there is a draw. Plus if there was no draw, Black/Huber are seed 1, Williamses seed 2, and then Stubsur is ranked 3rd and the Spanish 4th. Based on rankings, not race standing!

Is it??

Oh well, either team is capable of smashing my girls, so they have to be on their game from the first point!

Forget about that bring back Rennae and Lisa! :worship:

I'd love them to play their last season (whenever they decide that is, hopefully not next year) together.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL, USA - Samantha Stosur and Rennae Stubbs are the fourth and final team to qualify for the doubles event at the Sony Ericsson Championships - Doha 2009, taking place from October 27 to November 1.

Stosur and Stubbs began an exclusive doubles partnership in the beginning of the 2009 season and have reached three finals already, at Eastbourne, Wimbledon and Toronto. They have also been to the semifinals of the US Open and Premier-level tournaments in Dubai and Madrid.

While this will be their first appearance at the event as a team, both have been here before. Stosur has been here three times before and won it twice, in 2005 and 2006 (with Lisa Raymond). This will be Stubbs' 14th appearance, winning it once in 2001 (also with Raymond). Stosur has 22 Sony Ericsson WTA Tour doubles titles to her name (including two majors); Stubbs has 59 (four majors).

"It's a privilege to make it to the Sony Ericsson Championships," Stubbs said. "I've qualified for the Championships many times with different partners, but this year it's extra special to be playing in Doha with a fellow Australian."

"We are really excited about clinching a spot at the Sony Ericsson Championships," Stosur said. "Rennae and I only teamed up at the beginning of the year and it's been a very rewarding partnership so far as we've achieved a lot of great results, qualifying for Championships being the best one so far."

"Rennae and Sam both have track records of tremendous success in doubles, and it has been exciting to watch them team up this year and achieve great results," said Stacey Allaster, Chairman & CEO of the Tour. "I congratulate Rennae and Sam on qualifying for the Sony Ericsson Championships and look forward to seeing them compete with the best doubles teams in the world."

"Congratulations to Rennae and Sam on the great 2009 season and clinching the last spot at the Sony Ericsson Championships for the first time in their joint doubles career," said Aldo Liguori, Corporate VP and Head of Global Communications & PR for Sony Ericsson. "We look forward to these stars joining the previously qualified players and wish them luck at what promises to be a terrific finale to the season."

Finally. Now, will Nuria and Maria Jose catch the WS and be the 2 seed. First of all, will they enter Moscow and if so, they would have to win it to get the 2 seed.

Mariajo is in Moscow for singles, so chances are they could play doubles, but YEC seeds I think are based off ranks not Race standings.
