They were up 4-1 first set. :(

Oh well, at least she gets to go on that platform and be cheered for the last time by her home crowd.

It was a good tournament for them, and they had to battle hard to get to the final in their matches here.

:bigcry: :bigcry: It was nice supporting you Ai in your career. :sobbing: :sobbing:

That's too bad but this was a great run. It's too bad though that she had to lose to that monster kleybanova...yuck.

:sobbing: Have a nice retirement Ai... Such a shame they didn't win the title, it would have been marvellous to see Sugiyama winning for the last time in front of her crowd. :sad:

Apparently Clijsters sent a letter to Ai which was read at the doubles ceremony. That was nice of her.

Ai :worship::worship:

What a career and journeywoman on the tour. She consistently produced great results all througout her career. I'll never forget her 03' season. Her amazing play in Scottsdale winning four matches in one day, how well she played against Serena at the French that year, amazing doubles play winning the FO & Wimbledon that year, qualifiying for the Year-End Championships, Defeating Henin there. Wow.:eek::eek: It' just amazing when you see a players career end and you look at their achievements you really just appreciate how awesome they were. I personally think she could have stuck it out strictly as a doubles player on the tour for a few more years, but I'm happy to know that she feels completed as a tennis player. Conratulations Ai. A true class player that will be greatly missed :worship::worship::worship:

P.S. I just downloaded her QF match in doubles this year at the AO against Black/Huber. That match has got to be one of the greatest matches of her career. :eek::eek::eek: And of the year in singles and doubles on the tour.

I became a member at t3nnis.tv not too long ago and it's a great site. Free to use, simple rules, no hassle at all. They have some great matches there :)

As you can tell, I'm still quite excited by it :lol: It's probably my greatest Ai memory. Followed by her win over Hingis at Wimbledon in '06. The AO match came at a really good time in my life - I was about to apply into medicine and I didn't think I was going to make it, but they both inspired me that there's nothing you can't do, as long as you have heart and persevere right until the end :hearts: (Finally, I didn't get into medicine, but that turned out for the best.:))
That's so cute though :hearts: Thank :)
