:sobbing:

I had to make the thread because I find out Dina was playing doubles with Sveta  Hopefully they will go better than individual Dina :sobbing:

Chinese writing is just "Beijing Singles & Doubles" because I know Pepi wanted a Chinese title :p Thank you Tracy

Best of luck! I'll be updating as it goes.

SINGLES
Dinara Safina lt. Zhang Shuai

DOUBLES W/ KUZNETSOVA

Dina & Sveta playing doubles together :woohoo:
Memories from the Olympics are going to come back with that tournament :p

Then i just hate the draw  It's never easy but it's the first time in a long time that i really don't like it ! Didn't Vinci beat Elena or someone seeded in Tokyo ?

What does that mean Tracy?

It means Dina'll play single and double together. Two front lines for Dina."出击"implies the meaning of fighting:D I hope she'll fight for her #1:scratch:

A match against Stosur/Stubbs would be awesome !

If Sveta and Dinara lost to Sam and Rennae, I would be fine with that. Just the idea of all that awesomeness together makes me giddy.

Thank you, Sveta, for, as always, being the good friend and playing doubles with Dinara. I'm sure Svetlana gets offers every week to play doubles (cause that's how awesome she is). I guess they want to relive that Olympics doubles experinece while in Beijing. :tape:

Caralenko
Oct 2nd, 2009, 11:19 AM
Safinova vs. Stosur/Stubbs could very well be one-sided if Dina/Sexlana don't show up :sobbing: Let's just hope they make it that far...

vanúss
Oct 2nd, 2009, 11:24 AM
We'll see what will happen :p
But even if it's just a one-sided match i don't care like Lexi said just the four of them on the same court would be awesome ! And really if they lose , it won't be a big deal knowing who they played against

:hysteric: The match to determine the ladies' next doubles match is epic drama :speakles: :help:The unseeded team of Govortsova/Poutchek choked EPICALLY after being up 5-1 in the second set and wasted some MPs. It's now in the third and I fully expect Patty/Anna Lena to win.
Let's hope Dina and Sveta take advantage of their low energy reserves and have fun out there.

Venus and Anastasia are out on Centre Court so Dina/Zhang will start when they are done.

It was a bad loss and no doubt that Dinara's pride will have taken a battering, but I really do think that some of the pressure will be lifted by losing the No.1 ranking, she can get back to concentrating on her tennis, spending time with her family over the Christmas/New Year break, going to movies and doing whatever it is that 20 somethings do and forget about stupid press interview questions and snide remarks by other players, hopefully when she gets back to the No.1 ranking she will have won a couple of finals, maybe a slam (wishful thinking) and have even more maturity than she's already shown to date. People who dare to laugh at her loss and her time as a No.1 player really need to take a good hard look at themselves and figure out what they contribute to society and also be a little bit objective. Anyway as I said hopefully she will turn up to play doubles with Sveta tomorrow and if they lose....whatevs it's not the end of the world.

It will take a while to get over, especially since the press are going to write about how this is the worst loss, ranking wise, for a no. 1, worse than Ana's loss to Julie Coin.

Well if it takes her weeks or months so be it, I just hope that her support network look after her and help to rebuild some of the confidence she lost today, she's emotional but she's also a fighter, hopefully the fighter rises above everything else today.

:) Don't be too hard on her, or yourself for that matter Tracy, if I had but $1 for every player who has slumped over the years I'd sponsor Dinara myself. She'll come back, it may take a while but she'll come back.

Indeed , it happened before for other athletes some don't make it back but Dina will i am sure of that ! Maybe not at the #1 spot but close , she loves Tennis ( even if it's not obvious these days ) too much , she'll work her ass off and she'll fight even if she'll lose some of them !

I couldn't be more excited to 'follow' her around plenty of tournaments next season , it's going to be interesting to see her in 2010 !

I thought the win over Vinci meant promising things for this tournament. I hate being a Dina fan at times like this but somehow, at the end of the day, you love her anyway. :o

P.S. she hasn't technically lost the ranking... I mean, Serena could lose to Makarova

That's how it is with the Safins for me and lots of other thing ( which is why i decided that 2010 will be a Tennis/Sports year it's like for the Olympics the city/passion has to change all the time because you can't just please one country  )but no matter how horrible it was today and the past times , i'll always sit down and watch it all !

actually, i think she tried pretty good. she hit plenty attacking shots, didn't stand always 20 feet behind the baseline and didn't push back every ball. But Zhang had enough counterpuncher skills today, and when she had space she went to winners too.
The problem is, when she absolutely has no confidence, can't trust in her serve or groundstrokes, she is a mess. So she's gonna end 50+ UE and 10+ DF every fuckin zeljkotime.
luck wasn't on her side today.

Exactly! In the games she played well in she showed a little bit of how she became number one, but the games that followed were woeful to put it politely. I mean she was 4-2 up in the 1st set then lost it by playing badly. She stood up near the baseline (helped by the doubles perhaps?) and she hit the most amount of winners I can remember seeing in a long time - especially on the backhand to Zhang's backhand. Her serve, I thought was the best I've seen in months (when she didn't serve DFs), she went for the lines and hit some pretty good ones that Zhang had trouble returning or returned half way up the court so Dina could put it away. But when Zhang won a long rally that Dina really should've won, or didn't play aggressively enough in, that's when the confidence started to drop (dramatically).:help:

I just felt so bad for her at the end of the match. It's just so awful to see her so tense, she's a shadow of her former self, the one who took on Maria Sharapova at match points down at the FO last year (watched that match recently that's why I am referring to it), or even pre FO this year. She was so positive back then...
As a previous fan of Jankovic (not anymore) I was joking with my friends that I only support slamless number #1s. But I'm not going to give up on Dina the way I did Jankovic, I'm more invested in Dina and she's humble and modest and just much more likable in my eyes.

Anyway going to stop this rant now. :wavey:

Unfortunately for me I cannot give up on Dina so that just means that I suffer with all the losses and get even more excited when she wins. It's like Marc Brown says in one of his Arthur books "Anybody can root for for a winning team it takes character to stick with the underdogs". I'll just ride out this rough patch and wait for it to get better, because it will better eventually.
