ENOUGH SAID! WHAT A CELEBRITY...Seriously name another tennis player who could go from being ousted of a grand slam one night, to introducing PINK the next night at the VMAs??? WHAT A DIVA!!!! She got a huge ovation as she came out as well, which shows the tennis community should just get a life. She's a A-List celebrity, as well as being the best female athlete in the world! THANK YOU!!!!

Her win was tainted with the help of a line judge and an umpire. Good for Kim that she is at least now on the level of Mary, Kutzzy and Momo. I didn't know the semis were being played yesterday, I checked in at 5 and nothing was going on so I watched USC v Ohio State and found out on ESPN after the fact

My comments earlier were just to wind up the haters...but seriously the WTA isn't really that big a deal on the grand stage of sport and let's be honest Serena is just a little bigger on that stage as a public figure. It isn't just a Williams fan thing, Evert and Navrat were bigger than the WTA in their prime...Billie Jean King v Riggs was bigger than ALL of tennis when it happened.

That is just reality. ;)

The thing is, in sports the best player wins, not the most popular one. Objective vs subjective (I fear those two words might be a tad too long for the OP).

I'm glad Serena has moved on, but let's not fool ourselves. She'd give all music awards and red carpet appearances to be in the final today. There is a certain cloying desperation to this thread though. "We don't need no stinking tennis!!" But see, Serena is a tennis player. She's a competitor, it's what makes her great. Any fan worth her/his salt knows damn well that she would much rather be in AA celebrating her 12th GS than at the VMAs. Period. And frankly it's disrespectful to Serena to suggest otherwise.

She's just trying to make the best of a bad situation, as the song goes. And really I can't blame her. Go to keep on keepin' on. No sense moping around.

Wasn't bad at all. There was a large applause when she initially came out. She even waited for them to be quiet. That's when I heard a couple of jeers, so please don't go blowing yet another thing out of proportion. Besides, everyone will have a chance to watch the great Serena Williams soon enough and judge for themselves.

The bottom line is that she was there because not only is she a great champion, but she's a celeb too with other things going for her outside of tennis. Although I agree tennis is her best venture.

Wow, what an amazing feat of reading comprehension. Why, by showing up at VMA awards.
My part of the argument that you might be able to comprehend is that she wasn't best in this tournament and no one in this tennis forum gives a damn about these awards, and most people who've watched them probably don't know who Kim Clijsters is, or the difference between a tennis ball and a football. But good for them and Serena.

Is there a video of her appearance posted anywhere yet?

B/c I watched the whole VMAs and when she was on, the only thing I noticed is that not a lot of ppl laughed when she made the "crossing the line" joke. Probably b/c they didn't know about the previous day's incident and aren't hardcore tennis fans or didn't hear about what happened.

I personally laughed out loud when she made this reference, and it was good to see her there, not being negative despite a loss at a major tourney. So, good for her.

Serena knows it is wrong, she isn't a dumb person, she is just very emotional, and this showed that she really wanted to win this match, and she got carried away by her emotions. It's sad, but people can't shut out emotions at the point when they are the strongest and even harder to ignore.

I, would have said something in that manner too, just because I cannot always control what I think or feel or say, I would apologise, unless I believe I was in my own right, and was threated unwell. And Serena is a person that never takes back anything she says, and taking back what she says will hurt her credibility even more than this outrage did to enfuel the haters.

Kim has lost to world #1 Safina and #5 Jankovic.

Serena has lost to Zakopalova, Schiavone, Schnyder, Dementieva, Kuznetsova, Stosur, Bammer, and now Clijsters.

You have the problem because you make up fabrications to impress people over the internet and you're a pathological liar. People who would make something up like this are sociopathic in nature. And, I would think a surgeon would discuss his experiences more than once considering how much time you spend here. Another lie.

True VMA's once again sucked ass, last time they were good was 2003.

Anyway, people calm the fudge down, relax and get on with your lives, Serena is, Kim is, everyone is.

They ain't sitting at their computers, bitching at each other left and right.

Ok so Do you think Roger Federer, Kim Clijsters would even get an invite to the VMA's??? This is the 2nd time she has appeared!

Don't make me post pictures of Maria Sharapova. ;)

And in case you didn't know Anna Wintour shows up at Federer's match, is friends with Maria, and put Federer in the Vogue's September Issue. Who puts sports in the September Issue?

Actually considering the crap I've been reading in the last page and how much deleting I've done I think this thread has gone more than long enough.
