First of all, I am both a Kim and Serena fan and I was very surprised at how well Kim was playing and how early she was taking the ball against a hard hitter like Serena.
At the second game of the second set when Serena got broken she muttered to herself: I can not believe it.
I think her frustration grew because she underestimated Kim's level, but at the same time I have never seen Kim so quiet and concentrated, even after bad unforced errors she regrouped.
Congratulations to Kim for a great win, I sincerely hope she wins it all. I am looking forward to see Serena back; very soon. She had a stellar year with two grand slams already.
On a positive side: the first reaction of Serena after the outburst was to think about Kim and go and say congrats, that was a good thing to do.
Sofiane.

I honestly don't think she was surprised though. She just was off and wasn't ready. Serena said she noticed Kim's good form in Cincinnati and that's when she knew she'd be someone to watch for.

Serena said she wasn't surprised, because she'd seen her play so well in Cincinnati (though, she probably didn't think Kim playing so well would affect her). She definitely should have studied that Venus/Kim match. Also, Kim seems to be playing without the old hangups. She seems calm and focused. If Justine comes back, I so want to see Kim smash her down in a final. Petty of me, I know.

^^I dont think she was surprised either......Part of why she served so bad IMO because she knew she was going to need to paly her best.... and it didnt happen.

I dont think Kim'll play this well in her next slam... right now shes playing with Comeback. theres no pressure..... now after this match she'll have the pressure.... and Kim has been known to be a head case.... Hopefully she pulls through tomorrow without any hiccups....

I hope she keeps calm, she had a lot going on her private life especially the loss of her father, having lost my dad for cancer three years ago, I can realte and say that it changes your life and your outlook on life.

Kim will, thankfully, DESTROY the pusher 1 and 0.

And yes, Kim was taking the ball INCREDIBLY early- especially late in the 2nd.
