With the Serena's loss today and her stupid behaviour, the scandal is now over. There is no doubt that Safina is the real n1.

:help:

Unfortunately or fortunately, depending on who you are a fan of, even with all of this controversy Serena still won two slams this year and has an argument for being the best player!

The real no.1 according to the ranking is Safina, but the best player is still Serena.

I'm quite unconcerned by Safina ;):p I'm a huge fan of Bartoli & Pierce ;);)

Poor Dinara. Girl just cant get a break.

Especially since poor Serena just lost 1100 points and won't have a chance to regain many till the YEC  I imagine she'd be pretty bummed about it and won't exactly ace Beijing (but I can speculate all I want and be completely wrong).

Serena's last 3 losses at Slams were to the eventual champions (on the logical assumption that Kim wins tommorow)

Safina's last three losses entail a bagel, a loss to someone ranked outside the top 70 in the 3R of a major and losing the match on a double fault even though her opponet was a bigger headcase.

Safina is still number one, yes. Until she is not. Was there any doubt?

How can you open a thread like this? If Safina is better than Serena or whoever you want to compare, why didn't she make better progress at US OPEN than her?

US OPEN is one draw in a year... Take the Rome's draw!

but the best player is still Serena.
The best player was outplayed by a Kim Clijsters who is just coming back (third tournament). That says it all.

 So are you saying Kim is the best player?

Either way, it isn't the real no. 1. Sad.
