View Full Version : I'd bet the house Henin is coming back now

Whether Kim takes the title or not I would be very shocked if Henin did not make some kind of comeback in the next year or so. Anyone agree? Figured it would be nice to talk about something else than all the drama at the end of that match.

I am now convinced that Henin has already decided to come back.

Everything will depend on the exhibibtion matches. If she able to play a "decent" game during those matches, she'll start increasing her training. Justine will decide to play RG as a first slam, because she knows she has more talent than the others on the red clay.

If I were the opposition during those exhibition matches (e.g. Kuzn.) I would try to beat the crap out of Henin, otherwise one runs "the risk" of Henin returning full force to the game.

According to me it will take Justine longer than Kim to return to a decent level(due to the lack of natural power), but she is an enormous talent and she used to be nemesis of almost every player around. I doubt that Serena and Kim are looking forward to a comeback of Justine. They have too many bad memories with regards to Justine.

It will add drama to the WTA.

Can you see this happening ? Justine, unranked and with a wild card, defending her title at RG (just like Kim at the USO).

I can't wait to see this happening.

I really wish Justine and Kim would play dubs together at the Olympics. Imagine Venus and Serena vs Justine and Kim or Sveta/Dementieva vs Justine/Kim

I think it is possible. Justine seeing Kim over the last month is going to make her think at least.

Imagine if Henin does come back full-time with Kim. Be great to see, and then there would probably be more stability at the top instead of the numerous No.1's we've had, who get there, and then there game seems to self-destruct, and they tumble down the rankings again.

They won't, Kim will play for two years more and then, she will retire to give a brother or a sister to her daughter.

But Fed Cup

Hopefully Justine will come back, after the AO. If she does, I think her attitude would be much different. She does not need to reach the top, as she has done that. Hopefully, her attitude would be more relaxed so she can just enjoy the game and do the best she can. She will probably concentrate on clay and a few European indoor hard court tournaments. I doubt she would play much in the US or Australia.

Well if Sharapova's shoulder hadn't failed her she might've been a stable #1 for quite a while. :awww:

Oh well anyway, about Justine, the less players around that will get in the way of Lena winning a slam the better. :p Nah seriously I do think enough is enough with the comebacks. If you decide to retire then I say just move on (of course I don't know what it's like to retire though :p).

I really doubt Justine's return will be influenced by Kim's success. She quit at the top of her games and the defending champion of both the FO and the USO. If she come back and I am sure she wil, it is because she wants to play.
Kim came back coz she was too talented to be content as a londe grand slam winner.

you betcha... she will be willing to repeat Clijsters feat = she will come back in Stuttgart or Rome and try to win RG... she will also try to adopt/produce a child by then.

If thereís anything that gets Henin grinding those hideous teeth, itís Kim picking up the silverware.

Bye bye house then!

Actually the relative ease Kim has had coming back could easily inspire the former 'greats'.

I think it's fishy that we have no statement from Justine to say "yes the rumours are true" or "no the rumours are false". I can understand her wanting to be kept away from the spotlight and from reporters, but the only way to stop speculation is to say SOMETHING! Maybe she just hasn't decided fully whether its a yes or a no. However, I think they'd have one hell of a fed cup team now that flipkens and wickmayer are doing so good also

I think the pressure on Justine to return has been intense. The Belgian media have besieged her tennis club and her UNICEF press conference was hijacked by incessant questions about a comeback. The Kim comeback must have encouraged her. The comparative failure of the Maria comeback must have encouraged her in a different way. She was probably sick of tennis in 08 but now rested, she has probably realised that nothing else quite excites her like tennis and that is also where her talent lies, not in acting!

The fact is that there is no-one to fill Justine's shoes on clay. She is the 21st century Queen of Clay. More questionable will be how she would perform on other surfaces. The fact is that if the Williams sisters decline over the next two years, there is no-one else who can take over, allowing Justine and Kim to slot back in and win some more slams over the next 2-3 years as the rest of them just seem to be caretaker top players.

if justine comes back, i'd bet her first slam would be the french open, where she feels most comfortable.

I think so. Henin is the best in Roland Garros.

Seems like there's a good chance she'll come back. Apparently she was gonna be in a theater show from 24 oct till 20th december, and she cancelled that. And she ordered 14 new rackets. (source http://www.nieuwsblad.be/sportwereld/Article/Detail.aspx?articleID=DMF14092009_065 ). The website says she'll announce it the 16th. Let's hope so...

Kim and Justines careers have run in parallel, so why not this too?

With the tour in such a bad state that Kim can walk in with baby in tow and two years not playing - and take the US Open why not???
