horrible, serena would've won.
she said " i didn't say i'd kill you!"
it is just ridicolous, wta just didn't realize what major error they just made.
serena will make the tour die!
she'll use all the power she has!

she'll rebound.

it was a TERRIBLE error in judgement on her part to not just let it go.

So you can be defaulted in singles and still play doubles? I thought once you were defaulted in a tournament you were defaulted from all events.

Haha wouldn't that be the best boycot, but I think they do not want to give up on their doubles slam finals!

Serena wasn't defaulted from the tournament, she was given a POINT penalty on match point. Think people!

I never though Serena's only contention would be doubles. Sigh it is what it is.

If the crowd hears what serena acually said to that lineswoman, she is gonna get seriously booed when she takes to the court. I hope we don't have ourselves an IW-type situation

Serena will come back and single handedly win the doubles title! She is such a warrior and won't let this huge bullshit phase her! It's kinda like 1 vs. 3 when Serena has to team up with Venus.

The unusual part is the bit where serena said she'd shove the tennis ball down the lineswoman's fucking throat. I'm not sure the NY crowd will appraciate that too much...

She wasn't defaulted. The second code violation is a point penalty. Unfortunately for Serena, that happened to be match point.

I actually thought it was true. I hope they play Stosur/Stubbs, because I want to see a rematch with the Aussies winning.

Big deal if she's booed, NY always cheer against them anyway, unless its obvious that they will defeat their opponents. I want them to play the doubles, what I want them to boycott is the Fed Cup.

GO TEAM WILLIAMS, GO SERENA, YOU ARE THE BEST:worship::worship:

SERENA KNEW SHE WOLD NOT HAVE WON, THAT IS WHY SHE ACTED LIKE A MAD WOMAN. IT WAS AN EXCUSE TO DENY THAT SHE HAD BEEN DEFEATED BY A BETTER PLAYER.

Same thing I was thinking. They don't get thunderous support in singles most of the time, but in doubles they tend to. But if not,.

Only you would think of something like that, then write it in capital letters. :help:
And Serena wanted to WIN! She didn't care about denying anything. She more than praised Kim for her good play.

2003 Austrailian Open Semifinal Clijsters leads 5-0 30-0 3rd set... and loses..... Serena has dug out of much worse.... so to say she needed an excuse......

Everyone makes mistakes and says things in the moment that later regret.
Whatever happened its gone now. She still got doubles to focus on.

Agreed. I think this will be the first chapter of the next book because it is the match that will propel her to win the calendar grand slam!

The WTA don't run the slams the ITF do. Serena threatened a linesperson no matter what spin you put on it . I want to shove F***** ball down your throat is abuse of a lineperson and the point penalty was the right thing to do. I'm glad the linesperson had the guts to go to the umpire and report it and Serena deserves what she gets.

Even if there was no foot fault. Serena still abused a linesperson. Serena and her family like to think they have power on the tour but they are no better than else on the tour and the rules apply to them just like everyone else. I personally think tour officials would throw a party if Serena announced her retirement so women's tennis can get in the news for the right reasons not all the wrong reasons for crap like this. They then wouldn't have to worry about what comes out of Serena's mouth it would be worth celebrating.

I would loose all respect for Serena is she sulks and doesn't play the doubles. I think its best for her to get out that and get her anger out on the court.

How do you know that Serena would not have won the match? She's rallied from bigger deficits before to win a match so how do you know for sure that she would not have? Like someone has indicated from a previous thread, if you disliked or hated Serena Williams before, you will just use it as a further excuse for your hatred.

What happened last night will not change the fact that Serena is the best player of her generation, period! Hate on that!

Some people act like Serena did something completely awful and despicable. If Serena threw the racket or physically attacked the linejudge, then I would understand why people want her to be banned from a Slam. And that one person that said they wished that Serena's tirade was not censored so that they could "see serena for who she really is:" what are you referring to? How is Serena? You think off-court and in public you think she acts like she wants to shove a f**king tennis ball down everyone's throats? It was "heat of the moment" people!! She let her emotions get the best of her and it cost her the chance to try to win the next point. Geez!! Oh and no they won't pull out of the doubles.
