From 12.30pm @ Arthur Ashe...

Kim Clijsters vs Serena Williams

followed by

Rafeal Nadal vs Fernando Gonzales (to finish) - maybe moved to Louis Armstrong

followed by

Yanina Wickmayer vs Caroline Wozniacki - maybe moved to Louis Armstrong

=============================================

Putting a match that will DEFINATELY gain more viewers at the time where everyone is working is "SURELY" gonna help to boost the TV ratings.... :help:

I mean come on... you have two Slam winners (one-ex, one current) playing each other, both loved and supported by the American crowd, with the possibility of a fairytale comeback (if Clijsters win)... who wouldn't want to watch this match live?

Instead, what you get on TV after coming back from work is a UE slugfest by two youngsters which doesn't make for good viewing. And to top that up, you only get to watch the earlier match on a REPEAT whereby most of the fans would have known the score by then, which kinda kills the mood.... :tape:

Just my two cents, people... feel free to fire if you disagree...

So what's to say Kim-Serena won't be a UE fest ;)

They have placed Serena-Kim match first to give them the best chance to complete the match, because the weather forecast for today is not good.

They can't build it in 1 day. But probably start to think about it after this year's tournament, if it fails somehow because of the rain.

its impossible to build a roof on Ashe

Surely there is one engineering genius which can think of a solution... :p

Wouldn't it make more sense to finish the last remaining men's QF first?

Maybe Maria can ask Gehry:lol:

mens doesnt involve a US player does it :hehehe:
why do you think Roddick managed to win 2003 US Open ?
he had days of rest while others had to play 4 five set matches in consecutive days

They put a man on the moon, or didn't they:devil:
This is a very unfair schedule. Someone is going to be screwed royally.
If serena and kim go the distance, and nadal goes the distance, the winner of cara/yanina will have just a fraction of the rest time of the other finalist. This would be terrible considering that the final is played on saturday night.
That being said I don't want the women to play at the same time, i want to watch both matches.I also want to watch nada1.

You've got a point. Still, as a Rafa fan I have to say this stinks:ras:

I have always wondered about that, any time there is an incomplete match, it is never the first one up!

thats cos tennis players have to wake up a good 4 hrs before their match starts (if its 1st one)
its not like match starts at 11am, set alarm for 10.30, hop in taxi and play

Yep, every single Slam the schedule is fixed around giving him the absolute best possible chance of winning, even at the expense of everyone else.

I think it`s a rule.
Incomplete match should be on the same court where it started and after 1st match scheduled on this court.

I really don't see what is wrong with that schedule TBH. It is completely logical and fair.

why doesn't it make sense??? serena is in two draws and could probably play friday saturday sunday if she wins today...the incomplete match never goes on first...and today is "9/11 reflection day" so i'm sure tennis will play second fiddle in new york anyways

Maybe Maria can ask Gehry:lol:

Yes it would, but as someone else said, all scheduling seems designed to benefit Roger and Serena. Common sense would dictate that the Nadal match should be first, then Caroline-Wickmeyer, then Serena-Kim.

BuTtErFrEnA
Sep 11th, 2009, 12:45 PM
that's not common sense since that doesn't happen at any of the slams...the incomplete match goes on after a match actually scheduled for the day...serena is already guaranteed to still have another match at this tournament and if she wins today will have to play friday saturday sunday OR saturday saturday sunday, OR EVEN sunday sunday depending on weather.....nadal requested a wednesday start so however the draw and schedule played out after that was all up to him (who knows if they wanted to start him first but he didn't want to, and now the schedule is how it is)...
