Most improved: Sharapova (from #120+ to at worst top 20)
Well actually not, because her ranking at beginning of 2009 was not that low, but that would've been kinda funny.

My guess:
Comeback: Maria Sharapova or Kim Clijsters (probably Kim)
I think it was pretty obvious after Melbourne... ;) But now I think it's clear that will be Kim!

Most improved will be an interesting category. Pennetta is another contender and maybe Vesnina? She started the year at No.76 and is destined for the top-20. Razzano has made a similar rise too.

Player of the year: Serena (although this could change back to Safina if she gets on a streak - Miami and clay season disaster linger for Serena)
Most improved: Vesnina (would be set in stone if she can get her first title - probably @ Tashkent lmao)
Newcomer: Oudin (obvious)
Comeback: Clijsters (could change is Sharapova wins Beijing or Tokyo or both =] )
