its not a bombshell, i've known it for weeks.
its more to due with entering and then if you withdraw you end up with a Zero Pointer.

Lena will play with WC, therefore no punishment if she withdraws.

the YEC shoud be played a week later
WTA have no sense at all
ATP have a week break before their Masters after last tourn, but WTA = :weirdo:

well said :yeah:

Dementiva, Safina, Kuznetsova should play indoor in a cold october and few hours later be in a hot doha to play outdoor on hardcourt. Ridiculus
This calendar sucks !

The Kremlin Cup survived the threat of being moved to China a few years ago now it's been downgraded to a Tier 2 tournament and it's a shame. :(

it makes sense, YEC and mandatory events are priority, but...

that is quite ridiculous..Moscow is the only tournment held in Russia considering the number of russians on the tour it's surprising that they are downgrading it! but I guess the people there just don't go watch...Asia loves sports so they go out and pay to see the players...but they have so many tournments! Quite unfair...but it's a business.

Its not on the official website yet but I read somewhere that Flavia will be playing you'll be happy to hear:D
JJ, Vera and Flavia will likely be counting on a good run at this tournament to secure their places in Doha.

Jankovic, Zvonareva, Azarenka, Pennetta, Radwanska, Petrova, Cibulkova are the only top-20 players on the players list at the moment.

Isn't this the schedule and rules that the players signed off on in the new roadmap? What you buy is what you wear. As for the bangs, I just don't see it:tape:.
Actually, last year at the Kremlin Cup the only players that complain about the new road map were : Kuznetsova, Safina, Dementieva and Zvonareva. Safina also said "If they (wta) won't change some rules, we could decided a boycotage". After this Larry Scott had a meeting in doha with the 8 players and wta decided to have a bye for the 4 semifinalists of Rome and Tokyo. Not enough but jus to prove wta was a bit worried.
Zvonareva said that she talked with others players and all agree the roadmap wasn't a good one. She also said players should be more
unit, because it was already happen that players were against certain decisions but the Board (Larry Scott) didn't care of their remarks.
The problem was that only the russian players were against the roadmap. The other top players maybe were a bit selfish thinking only to their goals.
Jankovic said 'Well, I don't know anything, it's my team that tell me what tournaments I should play'.
Ivanovic said she didn't spend time to read well the new rules.
Only few months later Ivanovic, Jankovic and Serena Williams complained about the new rules. Too late.

Kremlin was never a great tourney, it was barely broadcasted globaly and it always had an absent audience.

80,000-100,000 during the week is "an absent audience"?

Obviously you have no idea what you're talking about and just spouting out random things. Kremlin cup has been broadcasted so much here in europe. I have seen second rounds pretty much every year. It's always been great to watch and there has been a reasonable sized audience even at the early matches. I've been really happy with moscow in the past.

The WTA had a bidding process (for Premier-level events) when they introduced the Roadmap 2009. Either the (Kremlin) tournament organizers didn't want to, or they couldn't raise enough funds for the prize money required to be at that level (higher tier Premier).

Well the matches I've seen from Kremlin it barely had 100 people in it each time. Then that match Serena vs Elena barely had audience either. And anyway 80 k - 100 k for a T1 is not much, even antwerp had over 65k the last edition.

ES 1 which is the most viewed sportchannel in europe only showed from the semis, at least here for the last 2 years. ES2 does broadcast it completely but that channel is limited available.

TBE said she'll probably play the event as a wildcard so I'm not too worried.
I'm just annoyed that they've left it in the same place for next year so this is going to happen again.
I can't remember exactly what stages of the tournament I've seen on Eurosport before but definitely from the SF onwards.
