View Full Version : Does anyone else have a bi-polar attitude about Caroline?

Because I definitely do.

Some days, I want her to get crushed badly. Other days, I wonder why I don't consider her one of my top favorites.

It's very confusing.

Anyone else have this attitude towards her or any player?

I'm attracted to her :lick: and she seems very nice ...

...but she would have to pay me to watch her play tennis; possibly the most dull game ever.

But I would happily pay her to let me help her shower after the match.

No but sometimes I can understand all that hate she gets (perhaps not all) & sometimes I just think why exactly do they hate her?

For me Marion Bartoli

Sometimes she makes a SF or Final run I'm happy for her and other times she losses 1st or 2nd round I'm happy she lost.

If she were average looking or unattractive, would she have fans and if so, who and why?

She seems like a nice girl based on the interviews I've viewed, but her game is just so uninspiring.

I've always secretly liked marion because she isn't the prettiest girl, it only makes her fight stronger.

The same is with Caroline, with the masses not liking her for no reason, it will only fuel her to win more.

I'm curious about this also.

Obviously, I am a fan of Dinara and JJ and look at all the hate they get for their looks :o I support Caro's pushing, if not just for the hilarious backlash from delicatecutter and the like  The hate comments are often more uplifting than the win.

I'm not a fan and her game can test my patience but I give her credit for getting to a lot of finals this year. None of us can take that way from her!

I have the bi-polar reaction to Marion Bartoli. One minute I'm chearing her on and loving her and then the next pulling my hair out. I can understand the bi-polar reaction to Caroline. But I do NOT understand the loathing and hate that so many in this Forum have for her.

However, it is better for people to react to you than not at all, and I think there is something special and enigmatic about Bartoli. She may not be a multiple slam winner but she has a certain way with her which makes her interesting and which makes her stand out above all the other bland players. For example Petrova, Chakvatadze(I can't even spell it!), Kirilenko, Safarova and Radwanska and the Bondarenkos just leave me cold and don't spark any interest. And all those that are hating on Caroline - remember it is she who is getting all your attention!

Well she seems pretty nice off-court and has a good and positive on-court demeanor too. But her game-style is just not my cup of tea.

She is hot. :hearts: Sometimes, that's enough.

I don't really care about her game. But she's a good player.

I find all the criticism about her game very unfair. She plays quite smartly, she manages to take control despite lacking power and her results are there to back her chosen style of play.
However, there's something I dislike about her, she gives me the impression that she believes she's super-hawt. Just a silly impression of mine.
I'm not saying she's un-hot but she's not super-hawt.

The first thing that drew me to Caro was her smile. However a smile wouldn't have done much. I watched her 2006 Junior Wimbledon match and started to like her and follow her. Her face and breasts have never been a factor for me. Can't speak for the others.

Same here. Caro used to be my second fave and now she's climbing my shitlist. :o

I feel the same way about the rest of those named above.

For some reason, I feel sorry for Bartoli - forgive me but I have to reference, Janis Ian's song "Seventeen" - and I think of Bartoli on the WTA - the lonely odd girl.

I especially like when she beats someone prettier than her.

Caroline is a very pretty young lady who seems to have a personality to match her looks. Her tennis is outstanding when she is playing a top hard hitting player. People appreciate someone who is willing and able to return difficult shots from a seemingly stronger player. It makes someone like Caroline seem vulnerable and courageous with her scrambling and strong returns, especially when she wins the point. I would love to see her win this tournament, however, unless Kim is on fire and can defeat Serena that will not happen. Maybe next year?

I watched Caro play for only the second time last night. I've never been a fan, mostly because she has a negative rep on this forum. HOWEVER.... I was REALLY impressed with what I saw last night. She was NOT aggressive, she did not go for anything, HOWEVER she played a fantastic, patient match with a variety of shots all over the court. She completely threw Melanie Oudin off her game. Caro reminded me a bit of HIngis with how well she used the court to run her opponent around. As a huge Hingis fan, I hate to say that, but it is true in my opinion. The major difference between Hingis and Caro is that the Hingis was MUCH more aggressive and had a MUCH deeper understanding of the court and the game and different types of shots. Caro has potential though...

Jealousy is a bitch.

Some people don't like good-looking succesful people who exudes confidence. Caroline probably reminds some of you of that "hot chick" from high school who got all the attention and always had an easy path to everything.

Personally, I don't have a problem with confidence as long as it doesn't turn into arrogance and Caroline hasn't shown signs of arrogance. She still seems very down to earth and go lucky and the other players on tour talk about how nice and approachable she is off-court as well. Even the Williams sisters adore her (especially Venus). She also dedicates a lot of her time blogging for her fans and even pays visits to her old tennis club here in Denmark. Very sweet girl.

I don't like her game at all. Nothing special about it. She only got to the top by being more consistent than others. But she won't have a chance against the inform top players.

This is about how I feel too - I really like her off court personality and how she comes across in interviews, but I just don't find her game interesting enough to actually support her. Maybe as she develops as a player this might change though.

I definitely love/hate her. Love her personality and her as a person. But during her matches I find myself yelling at the TV, "Why can't you get any pace on that stupid forehand?!" I'm usually a calm person....

Well, Caro herself has stated several times that Hingis is her most important role model (no jokes on either coke or Radek here, she was talking about her play).

I really like Caro, she's one of my faves...but I don't think she has the game to be top5, butshe'll most likely be one after the USO...I'll be happy in a way but quite sad for the tour

Lovely Denmark welcomes her family from Poland. Now Wozniacki shields her income in Monte Carlo to avoid high Danish taxes that cover liberal social programs! Gee!

My thoughts exactly. Whenever I see her off court, I think, "Wow, she seems so sweet, why don't I like her?" and then I watch her play. -__-

Last night, for example. 5 winners the entire match to 20 unforced errors. Compare that to the Federer match I watched after where he already had 6 winners after 3 games. I just can't watch that kind of tennis!

So what !
Everyone knows that in sports you have very few years to earn a lot of money.
Lots of sportswomen and men do the same, no matter if they are from Scandinavia, France, Finland, Germany or any other welfate state with a relatively high tax level.
And please, don't try to troll this with Poland, what's that got to do with it, she was born in Denmark for christ sake?

I like Caroline. She's nice, spunky, reminds me of Martina when she talks. Her game is also attractive (omg gasp!) to me, because she's not the type of player that will give you free points. You have to earn every damn point against her and if you're off you better have the coach schedule a flight out of town later in the evening.

Can't really blame her. She is not the first, nor will she be the last professional athlete to do this. A sports career can end in a fraction of a second. Maximizing the earnings is a sane thing to do. And I think you will find that she contributes to the Danish economy in other secondary ways - as well as acting as a positive representative of the country. That can be worth much more than tax money.

She's seems like a nice, sweet, girl, but I think she's boring to watch. I'm a straight female, though.

I don't really get the attraction from guys either. She's pretty, but she kinda walks like a guy and has no hips.
