She doesn't deserve that...

It's a little too high for her, she's still too inconsistent. You could see vs. Bondarenko in the second set where she was lame and nearly got to 1:5. Katya played badly and too passive because another player wouldn't have choked in that set!

So much smack talk going on about Yanina, I'm sure half of the board has barely seen her play before the US Open.

I bet Kateryna would be said the same if she beat Yanina. She's also ranked 50 something in the rankings and would rise to 20 something with a SF appearance, no?:p

She deserved it.
I don't know how many times i have said before the USO, that Yanina is one of the most underrated players.
She deserves to be ranked there :worship:

Correct, Henin to join soon will make it three in the top 20.

zuluaga is on her way...

With her impressive (due to an easy draw) run she overtakes a lot of players who are simply better ...

she will be a seed you want to draw, but nevertheless good for belgium tennis

she is not a zuluaga, agreed that she had an easy draw here but she is a very consistent player.
Her many easy wins against lower ranked players this year will help her to solidify her ranking.
She is top 20 top 30 material.

So much envy here :o Not sure what the girl has done to deserve this (except work hard and take an opportunity when she's given one).

All I will say is........

Remember Bartoli in 2007. Who thought she would beat Henin to make the final of Wimbledon. I know its a little bit different, cos Bartoli was a seed and ranked higher, but we cant rule Yanina out.

Nice way to put it.

Good to see a girl taking the bull by the horns when needed, This ranking will give her good confidence going into future tournaments, and will give her a feeling of what its like to be in the upper echelons of the tour, it may provide a stepping stone for self actualisation to lift up her game and contain the ranking or thereabouts.

That's a huge jump for her from one tournament. I hope she can perform well over the next year so that she can prove she belongs there. :)

They are very good at snooker and trash talk though, admit it.

But you know. How dare she win matches! She should have like totally not beaten the players who had beaten top seeds out of respect!
