De Brito has definitely more potential to deafen the ball boys/girls.

What has Michelle Larcher de Brito done?

She has a 3-0 advantage against Oudin. Third round in French Open this year, etc.

Who is playing better now? Oudin

Who have already beaten better ranking players? Oudin

Who will be, at least, top 50 next monday? Oudin

Who have been doing a most regular performance in the WTA Tour? Oudin

This is easy and without doubts. To speak about their future or the player that have more potential to have a better carreer is unpredictable... Now, Melanie has a more mature and variated game but if Michelle improves her serves, slices and net game and maintains her "on fire" shots, she can be a HUGE player... But this is only "if...".

Firstly, de Bruto trumpeted herself BEFORE achieving a major feat ! History has shown that this is not the way to go in sports. Secondly, Burrito is downright obnoxious, in every aspect. This does not help to make friends.

Definiately Oudin!! :yeah:

For me, I don't really see anything special in Michelle, saw her play in Madrid and I expected to see huge talent and potential....but I personally wasn't impressed :o Saw Oudin at Wimbledon and she has a lot of talent and most importantly...she has confidence, self belief and can actually perform well at these big events!! :worship: (That's something that can't be said for a lot of the top players at the moment :tape: )

I voted de Brito. Oudin has next year to prove to me she can handle the expectations and pressure of defending her points.

I say both are equal. Anyway you can never tell, there have been these players like Vaidisova peaking while they're young and then can't handle the pressure anymore and fade away like dying stars.

oudin is on a run (like dokic was in january), pushed by home crowd...

she won't keep playing and winning like this the next months.. BUT she has shown she mentally very strong, that might be a plus for the future

I guess MLDB will have a breakthrough soon and then everybody will hype her as well

I will wait till I judge that

I love Oudin, but i think MLDB.

Hmm...I think MLDB has more upside. She's been pretty consistent this year. Oudin has kind of come out of nowhere. I see a pretty clear blueprint for getting MLDB into the top ten, not easy, but clear. Her groundstrokes need to beef up a bit, but the instinct to go big off both sides is there. Her serve is obviously a problem and needs to be improved, but the instincts are right.

Oudin's instincts are not right in my opinion. MLDB goes for the right shots at the right time. She's just too young/thin to make them right now. Oudin gets mid court short balls and looks lost half the time, and her indecision is, I believe, the reason for all those balls she misses by an inch or two. Her groundstroke technique is solid, and there's some potential to turn that forehand into a weapon, but she's never going to have the groundstrokes of a multi slam champion like Henin, Sharapova, Williamses etc. Even Ivanovic showed more potential off the ground at this age.

One thing I really really like about Melanie that gives me hope is that she never gives up and doesn't seem to choke. Then again, she doesn't have the killer instinct of Sharapova. At 17, Maria just instinctively sensed that, should she win that tiebreak against Lindsay, she was going to win the match. She stepped it up another level, took the tiebreak easily, and ran away with the final set. We don't even need to talk about Serena.

I really want to jump on the Melanie bandwagon. Really do. But I just am not convinced that I saw a slam winner on court at the US Open. Reduce Maria's double fault count even to 10 and she wins in straight sets, and Oudin leaves New York after the third round.

that said, I'd take Laura Robson in a heartbeat over both of them combined. That girl is going to do big things.

I don't know who has more potential. What I do know is that when Oudin's birthday comes later this month there won't be any U18 in the top 100 as Michelle won't probably play till then and she has Tashkent QF points to defend. :tape:

One is a ballbasher the other is a pusher. Neither of them have top 10 potential unless they vastly improve their games.
