 Women's tennis is dead. This is just sad. Anybody who thinks this path to the semis is worthy of praise is seriously delusional.

it's not nina's fault, but possibly the only top-40 player she meets is razzano ... :help:
(this says more about women's tennis today than about yanina)

Good draw for U$ 350 000

She could have easily lost first round to Razzano! Great job for her in winning that match and taking advantage of the draw. She could have easily folded under the pressure of such a great chance, but she didn't and now she's in the semifinals! :D

Nina deserves a good draw;)
She always gets bad ones so it was about time!!!

well deserved. Razzano, Peng are not easy opponents.

The tour is deeper now. Before, a lackadaisical performance from a top player would have been sufficient to beat a non seeded player 90% of the time. Now it only works 30% of the time.

Her win over Razzano was the first Top20 win of her career! :D

Congrats to her regardless of the draw - what a great feeling she must be having today. I'm sure the Belgian papers are going nuts!

I find this thread really horrible! I remind the players she beats, they beat other big players, and I am sure if she would played againt Safina, she would have won. The ass whole who open this thread is just a jealous and a frustrated person! :tape:

Well that's what happens when you're always unseeded. :rolls:

Gonna be another Cibulkova. Reach the semifinals then lose to scrubs the rest of the year. She'll probably play enough grass challengers to defend the points though

So what? Dementieva made the Australian Open semis defeating only 1 top 20 player and made the Wimbledon semis defeating 0 top 20 players.

I've been waiting all day for this thread...

Everyone else did the "heavy" pushing for her, but she was able to "capitalize" on them.

And why is Yanina to laugh about this? Kvitova took out the #1 so beating her is a better achievement than beating the #1 herself logically. And who said she is losing tomorrow? If she plays & beats Oudin, her average opponent ranking will drop even more and people will still be talking about a cake draw she had drawing a WC in the semifinals anyway, but it will be a great win for her for sure.

I didn't even say anything bad about her. I'm supporting her to reach the final, did you see my other thread about all-belgian final?

and calling people asshole? :o

Kvitova defeated Safina
Errani defeated Schnyder
...Oudin defeated Dementieva, Sharapova and might defeat Wozniacki.

If Yanina beats them all, she'll have deserved her spot . It's not like the 'top players' withdrew or retired. Not Yanina's fault if they are struggling.

What this girl has learned this year is WINNING (she is 45-17 at the moment) albeit at mainly small tournaments.
Coming consistently through qualifying at big tournaments like she did recently is a sign of an up-and-comer.

Is Wickmayer a top player ?
For sure not, but definitely top 20 material which she virtually already is now.
And given her knack to win matches she might repeat a big run, eg at Wimbledon.

Not her fault. Plus she's handling the situation well for her first QF.
