Wow, Yanina has some broad shoulders--her physique almost reminds me of Maria's, but a little more muscular. She really pounds that ball.
Didn't really have a horse in this race, but was hoping for Bondarenko---she seems less likely to repeat this kind of a result.

Libertango
Sep 9th, 2009, 08:19 PM
Not surprised; I don't see what Katya does, AT ALL. (Alona is much better) and Yanina really pounds the ball; love her serve and CCBH.

Congrats Nina! :D

Good match from Yanina! Much better than her quarter final.

And stop laughing at her. You should only wish that your fav plays the big points as well as Yanina does. First Bondarenko broke back when Yanina was serving in the first set at 5-4 (and Yanina already wasted a setpoint at 5-3), and Yanina played two great games afterwrads to take the set. And when Bondarenko let her back in in the second, Yanina didn't look back (went from 1-4 to 6-4).

The girl has guts at the very least! :yeah:

First time I watch Wickmayer. She's got very nice strokes on both sides. What she needs to do is get in the gym and work on her legs. Movement and footwork is her biggest issue.

Bondarenko is useless. :help:Thank god we don't have another pusher in the semis.

She didn't play the big points well. This should've an easier straight sets. She was getting tight when she was leading, and playing much more freely when she was behind and when it was tight.

Congrats Yanina! Good match.
In my opinion her win wasn't really in doubt, even when she was down in the second set. Kateryna didn't played well at all. Most of the time it was Yanina who was going for her shots and was making winners and errors. With all the respect to Oudin and Wozniacki, but this is a really BIG chance for Yanina to reach the final!

Expected result from Yanina, her game is more agressive then Kateryna and it was all about what Yanina would do and it seems she's very focus and her angry attacks are more controlled now.

I hope she gets to the final.

Strange match. It had more enjoyable points that the other top half QF, and ITF level is harsh, but it had a low-tier feel about it.
Also, though it seems that this was all about changing momentum (Wickmayer 5-3 with SP, Bondarenko 5-5, Wickmayer 7-5 1-0 30-0*, Bondarenko 1-4 with BP for 1-5, Wickmayer 6-4 GSM) the second set was like flipping a coin 10 times. Every one of its games could have gone the other way around.
Wickmayer is talented, but #21 is too high for her atm. And I'd be surprised to see KBond make another Slam quarter.
