Hantuyama were up 4-2* in the second and *4-3 in the third, but couldn't put it away.

This was overall an enjoyable match ruined by the dreadful announcing of Al Trautwig and Luke Jensen. Among other things, Jensen still cannot pronounce Hantuchova's last name. And heaven forbid anyone make two bad shots in a row because Jensen and his nimrod partner would make that player out to be the worst player in the world. And then that player would make a good shot and they would be made to look like idiots.

Pity two of my favourite doubles teams had to play each other so early and the winners to play the Williams' next...

I want this match. Please someone upload :bigcry: I was so mad there was no livestream.
It looked to be a quality, two and half hour match - considering it was only three 6-4 sets, the games were considerably long.
I was a winner in any case - sad that Ai and Daniela couldn't close out the lead - but at least they kept fighting until the end.
And hopefully Ai will be back in 2010 competing at Grand Slam level :)
now, Zi, Jie, it is your duty to go all the way and win this thing :D

I recorded the match on my DVD HDD. But I cannot make copies into DVDs don't know why :sobbing: (collapses at 3% ) I will see what can I do...

Just watched the match taped (was working, came home at 4-4 FS), and yeah, it was very nice. A lot of good points :)

Yeah, I watched scoreboard and saw Dani/Ai had it well in hand. Then I had to take a nap. So this result surprised me!

How did you see it? Any way to share it?

How was Hantuchova's name pronounced incorrectly?

Yes, I was sorry about that too, because of Ai. Is she really retiring? I saw the gossip threads but they died away and I saw no confirmation. I hope she will stay on tour and play a lot of doubles, some singles too when she can.

But then I thought, well Zi is in trouble too, on the ropes with her ranking and she needs success too to stay as partner with Jie and stay on tour. So it was hard to want one or the other to win/lose.

Is there some way to make a copy onto something that can be seen on internet? (I know nothing about these things, :p ).

If it was Ai's final Grand Slam match, I'm glad she lost to Yan and Zheng, a respectable team, and the future of Asian tennis. :) A fitting way to end a career.
But I am not sure if it was, who knows? Did Ai look nostalgic at the end? Otherwise, I think she's likely to return
In a few days, it might be up on t3nnis.tv
And adrygf, I hate you for having this match in HD :o haha. I am very jealous :)

It seems Yan/Zheng can only beat Hantuyama in US Open 3RD matches. This was an exact repeat of their 2005 victory but they've lost the other 3 matches.

Given how bad their season has been, 3R-QF-3R-QF+ is not a bad set of slam results. :yeah:

Ai/Dani
