There have been quite a few new names pushing through at this year's US Open.

Who have you become a fan of and why?

Svetlana.

Shvedova's game is beautiful, she seems like a headcase though. I like her a lot so far.

Yaroslava Shvedova. Not because I don't like Jelena, but because Yaroslava plays so beautifully. I love her game, I've seen it since the French Open and after watching her again yesterday.. :hearts:

Also, probably Oliva Rogowska. The way she played! :)

I already was familiar with Rogowska (from seeing her at Cincy 2009) and Shvedova (from seeing her at IW 2008). So cannot say I became a fan now, from knowing nothing about them. But really enjoyed watching both of them here at US Open 2009.

Na Li also played beautifully against MLDB.

I'll wait to see how she backs up next round before I jump on the bandwagon.

But Oudin has better mental strength than most of the current top 20. I need to support someone who isn't a headcase :o

Oudin without a doubt.

Shenay Perry hit me with a smash so I immediatly became a BIGGER fan of Bondarenka when she double breadsticked her :tape:

Oudin, at first she irked me a bit, but I really like her now. Great attitude and such a pure and competitive game.

Also, Shvedova I have seen her a few times and I like her more and more every time I see her.

Yes, she did it on purpose, I would do that to you too.:p

I find myself hoping Kateryna will do something big, but I dunno if I'd go so far as to use the word 'fan'.

Oudin is so enjoyable to watch, she´s so intense and off court she seems a really down to earth, nice girl

Has to be Oudin...just to shut up all my mates who were sure Elena would at least get to semis!!
I bet €50 with one that she would not!! and haha i wil enjoy Sat night when i see him :)
If Sorana or Flavia make last 4 i get €100 each from him too!!! i pray both will :)
If they don't and his predictable 2 of final 4 happens then i will owe him money :(

As much as it pains me, Oudin is starting to grow on me. Also Kirilenko for beating that ugly witch.

Anyway, starting now, I'm a fan of of whoever beats Wozniacki.

Sep 4th, 2009, 07:16 AM
Maybe Mel, but I already enjoyed her game and really liked her, so I guess she doesn't count.
I guess I didn't realize how happy I was that Kimmie was back until she beat Marion again
That was the best match for me so far.

Sep 4th, 2009, 10:19 AM
Olivia Rogowska
Marija Kirilenko (I`ve never noticed her actually since now ... and she played really well against Radwanska - whom I also like)
Jaroslava Švedova (not really a fan but I will follow her more)
Anastasia Rodionova (same than Švedova)

I can`t become a fan of Oudin ... not because she beat Dementjeva, but ... I guess I like headcases:lol:. Maybe I just feel that players like Oudin don`t "need" my support.
(the only exception is Šarapova ... I really don`t know why I like her:scratch:)

Shvedova. I started to notice her name more and more coming through, and always thought what a cool name, and now after watching that yesterday she plays great tennis too.

I've been warming to Cirstea for awhile now, but seeing her interview on TTC yesterday cinched it for me. She is very articulate, intelligent and thoughtful in her responses. Not to mention a rising star on tour. I am officially on her bandwagon now.

Oudin will make a big name for herself this year, for sure. Love her attitude about supporting and welcoming competition from fellow Americans. A very refreshing and welcome change of pace from the diva sisters.

I like that McHale, too. She has some game. It needs to be honed, but she has some skills to work with. Finally some quality Americans to cheer for!

Yari has been on my radar after quickly climbing the rankings a while back after having a good series of tournaments (and then quickly falling back down). It would be nice to see her get far in this tournament.

Melanie Oudin because she's a dynamo, likable and not your typical teenage tennis zombie. She plays all court tennis and has no fear. :tennis: :D
