Rodionova is sick.
When Mary Pierce hurt herself, Zvonareva was the first trying to get Mary help.
What a fucking bitch.

I've done a similar injury on a tennis court last year so I know what that feels like.

They just showed a replay on Sky Sports and showed Rodionova walking over before they cut away. Did she honestly just walk away? Vera showed the correct way to behave when your opponent gets seriously injured.

after signing autographs, posing for pictures and doing interviews, Rodionova left the court by herself while Lisicki is still being treated on court. unbelievable.

I saw it too & it was so sad to watch, partly because she lost & she's one of my favs of the younger up & coming players but mainly because she was obviously in utter pain & crying her eyes out  Hope it isn't too serious but from what I saw I'm not too optimistic, so unfortunate.

Though did anyone else think that Rodionova seemed to think Sabine was "acting" just to try to get out of losing the match or something, she looked really pissed off to me (maybe because she couldn't celebrate her win at all  ). Don't know just from what I saw, Rodionova didn't look very sympathetic or anything, just mainly annoyed.

you cant call Rodionova a b1tch for that, people react different in tough situations, best thing to do is leave it to the experts instead of asking a screaming woman if she's ok, it's obvious she's not.

After hearing Sabine's cry, Rodionova wandered over to Sabine's side of the court.
But then, a thought occurred to her.

"I just made a comeback from 2-5 down in the third set and this bitch had the audacity to ruin my celebration by getting hurt? Awww, hell no. Sympathy my ass! I'm going back to my bench. "

Well when Sabine started crying & it was clear she was injured (pretty much straight away) Rodionova did appear to go over but did not seem to get very close & she just looked kind of pissed off or something as she turned around & walked back to her chair, leaving Lynn Welch & courtside people to help Sabine. Rodionova pretty much just left it to the officials, didn't even try to say anything to Sabine or help the officials get anything to help etc. Then she went off to do her interview, sign some stuff & left the court...all the time Sabina was still on the floor, crying somewhat & officials were trying to do what they could whilst waiting for the trainer/wheelchair. Not saying she should be right there trying to treat it for Sabine but a little bit more concern would have been nice.

Not really. She walked a few steps onto her side of the court before turning around to go do a little celebration and sign autographs. I didn't see her ever go near Sabine, and neither did Navratilova who was commentating. She was upset that Rodionova never bothered to say anything to Lisicki as well.

Rodionova was terrible. She went over there and it looked like she was thinking "why isn't she getting up to shake my hand?" :o How do you just walk away from someone who is crying and is clearly in pain. And even worse, the match was over! It's not like she had to keep her "game face" on or anything.

Who the hell would want her autograph after watching that and how can they hold an interview when there's a player collapsed on the other side of the court?!!!! Shameful.

Bondarenko should have some good support in her next match. :tape:

There's really no excuse for sportsmanship that bad... She had nothing to lose to ask if Sabine was okay, shake hands, wish her well. The match was over.

I understand that when you're competing you may not feel it necessary to bring ice (when there are handfulls of people who could do so more easily) or something like that. Maybe Rodionova felt she was the last person Sabine wanted to talk to when she was in that much pain. I'd still say to err on the side of common decency.

Rodionova did walk half-way to her, before stopping. She looked back at the umpire who was coming over to Lisicki. You can't expect her to provide first aid, but she should have talked to her. A bigger question is why the officials were just standing around looking; no one had enough brains to call for ice? Looks like maybe it was her coach who finally got in with some ice.

My only complaint with Rodionova is I don't think she should have left the court while Lisicki was still on the ground. I think she should have waited there until they got her in the wheelchair and then left the court at the same time she did. But it's a weird situation, so it's understandable that someone wouldn't know what to do.

Exactly. I'm sure its hard to know how to act when a player injures herself on mp like that and you're happy you've won... but she could have at least stuck around and left the court with Sabine, that would have been the classy thing to do.

Didnt surprise by Rodionova's reaction though, she reacted like exactly I would expect.

Ok she didnt celebrate but didnt you all hear Sabine crying loudly, nobody could celebrate at that situation, not even Rodionova.

All the ball boys, line judges, and US Open officials are just standing around, not being helpful.
Another minute goes by before Sabine's dad comes down from the grandstand and brings ice pack.

I think people are way overreacting about Rodionova not going completely over to Lisicki. The person who was at the grounds said Lynn Welch spoke to Rodionova. Sure, she could've asked 'Are you okay?' or something like that, but Lisicki was clearly not okay, and I doubt that in her moment of pain or even now she could give a shit about receiving niceties from Rodionova. It wasn't a 'Oh I seem to have grazed my knee I could use a hand getting back up' type of injury, Rodionova to me looked confused as to what she should do, and most people would be the same way.

However I think Rodionova could have waited until Lisicki had been calmed down before she celebrated her win, and definitely waited on court until they could both leave together.

Although appearances can be deceiving, Lisicki's ankle roll didn't look too bad, so hopefully she can be back on tour ASAP and it won't hamper the great progress she has made this year. She might've been a little bit of shock immediately after she rolled it too, so I'm hoping that it won't keep her off tour for a long period of time. :)

Yeah okay, we get it, you hate Rodionova. You can stop making post after post with that message now. :wavey:

Yes this...think about it..if that was me or you 1st thing you would do is go over to opponent and see how she was/ Poor girl was obviously seriously injured..and Rodionova didn't even go over to her
She was more interested in the glory of winning & went signing autographs etc :(
Rodionova to me meant nothing before tonight...but after this i will be biggest fan of whoever plays vs her from now on!!! Total bitch she is..hope she loses & for added value gets injured in next round! :))

:lol:1 minute after Sabine injures herself and she still has no ice pack.
All the ball boys, line judges, and US Open officials are just standing around, not being helpful.
Another minute goes by before Sabine's dad comes down from the grandstand and brings ice pack.
Meanwhile, somebody is taking a bow.

Omg, please tell me there is a screencap where Rodionova is signing autographs while Sabine is still laying there. :help:

You give us both far too much credit. Unless you've been in this situation before you have no idea how you would react. Nobody does.

And you said that you'd expect someone to 'go over to opponent and see how she was', but then straight after you said 'Poor girl was obviously seriously injured'. Should Rodionova have said something like this: "Oh, it's obvious that you're seriously injured, but are you okay?"

When someone is that seriously injured, asking if they're okay isn't what is needed. Lisicki needed medical assistance, which Rodionova couldn't provide.

SPOT ON.

If there's someone to blame, it's the medical people who can't get to Lisicki fast enough. Everyone's bagging Rodionova because she didn't walk over to ask if Sabine's ok. How ridiculous.

Well, she could have said something different than "Are you okay?" then
But going over to your opponent who is laying and crying on the court really should not be too much to ask.

Clearly people on here have different morals to me. As does Bitchionova.

The moment i heard Sabine crying i would be right over there helping her out, not giving a half arsed look then signing autographs and waving to crowd. before doign some interviews and walking off the court.

Any news on Sabine situation?

It says that she sprained her ankle but apparently there are no ligaments torn.

That are good news! Aren't they? An ankle sprain is about one month off of the tour? The worst scenario would have been the ligaments torn. We'll wait for more informations.. I hope it would be less than it appeared..

They got towels and ice and elevated her leg.

Well good on them. Jesus, if you read my first post I wasn't saying that Rodionova was without fault in this incident, my point was that people were overreacting about her not going right up to Lisicki and diagnosing her injury and getting her some towels and getting her some ice and elevating her leg and anything else Rodionova should've thought to do in the few seconds that she had to think, after concentrating hard for a long 3 set match, and having just won the match that she was never expected to win, and whatever other thoughts had been crossing her mind in the moments before Lisicki rolled her ankle.

I don't even like Rodionova, never have, but geez, pardon me for being rational and not coming in here and saying "Oh what a bitch I hope she dies in her next match for being a cold heartless slag" like pretty much everyone else.

How can you wish to anyone that he (she) gets injured next time ... it just shows some of you are worse than Rodionova could possibly be.
I saw the incident. Nastya won the matchpoint and for a while she just stood confused, didn`t lift her hands or anything and she approached Sabine but than she stood there and just didn`t know what to do.

I doubt I would try to talk to a person who is lying on the floor in pain and crying ... I can imagine some people just freeze in situations like this.
We can`t judge Nastya for this ... I`m not really a religious person but this one I like: Don`t judge others because you will be judged (I`m not sure I wrote it properly in English but I`m sure you know this sentence)

(btw - Sabine Lisicki is one of the players I really like. And I don`t know anything about Rodionova - until this US Open I didn`t know there were two sisters, one representing Russia and another Australia)

What a dissapointing ending to an exciting match. Dissapointing in that Sabine Lisicki appeared to have seriously injured her left ankle on match point against her and dissapointing in how she was or wasn't aided after the match was over. While I don't blame Rodianova for anything here I do wish she had walked over to Sabine and asked her if she could do anything for her like get her some ice or just ask her what did she injure? Nastya may not have known exactly what was hurting Lisicki but the match was over and she could have done more to try to comfort Sabine. But maybe these 2 girls don't like each other and Rodianova may have been afraid to go all the way over to Lisicki. I don't know. But I do know this would not have happened on the ATP Tour because the winning player would go up to the injured losing player and try to help him.

I sure hope Sabine can stay healthy in 2010 and fulfill her vast potential and not lose matches like the one to Rodianova. Sabine has the size and weapons to blow a lightweight like Rodianova away and at this stage of her career Sabine should be able to overpower a much smaller player like Nastya.

Are you people actually blind when watching the video  She is almost at Lisicki before Lynn Welch runs down and stops her.
From what I saw Rodionova is probably the one who started speaking top Lynn Welch! She probably said some stuffs like" Can I leave now?"

It was a bitch move to do to your friend.

She was winning and should have let Caro cross first.
I still don't get why it is Sabine who pump over Caro and not the opposite! I doubt she meant to pump into her...perhaps she was just focused on her match and didn't see/think that Caro would cross at the same time as her.

In German press Sabine´s injury is stated as being not that serious, should take 3 weeks to heal. She´s also announced to playing Hopman cup 2010 with Kohlschreiber.

My impression is that as hard as this injury+exit is, the better it is for her to let her shoulder heal 3 more weeks, maybe more, to stop that new service motion and return to her full serve-strength. Losing control over her serve due to a new motion must be weird for her too.

I thought as much. She didn't go completely over on it, so if there isn't too much swelling she could even start training again in 2 weeks. Still, sprains are extremely painful and I suppose she was frustrated by sustaining yet another injury, let alone down match point.

Injuries are the worst for developing players under 21 as they rob them of developmental time which can't be regained. I hope she does rest her shoulder while she's recovering.

Everybody just wants to talk about the injury and only the injury. I was so upset that Sabine allowed Rodionova to come frm behind leading 5-2 in the 3rd set. This is definitely Sabine's worse loss. Until Sabine cuts down on these Double Faults, it's going to cost her a lot of defeats. I was so upset that most of the fans during the match were rooting for Rodionova. I guess I just have to shake off the loss. Dam, the loss really upset me.

Maybe because the injury is more impacting than a second round loss. I know you're upset about the loss, but this is about Sabine and I'm sure she's more worried about the injury she sustained in the process.
