It was just horrendous to watch. Doublefaulting during a set point against her. I dont think she is enjoying playing at the moment. I'm not a fan of her but I just feel bad watching her play like this. No confidence, no enjoyment, no nothing.

As Navratilova said, she is a victim of her of success. :o

TOO FAR BEHIND THE BASELINE WTF DOES SHE THINK SHE'S ON CLAY OR THE ATP OR SMTH! :weirdo:!

Hot mess atm. Her and Sveta both overplayed on the clay IMO - like Rafa - and now both are drained and lacking motivation. I dont really have much sympathy for it tbh.

Safina's confidence must be at rock bottom because she's 'c'moning' after most of her shots.

It's not a match discussion. It's more of like a thread for sentiments.

I agree she is disgusting ATM, she should lose before the second week IMO.

I actually thought she was handling things rather well, until that pass from Barrois that clipped the net. That's when the glances to her coach began, the 'cmon'ing of Barrois' errors.. the negative stuff. She's so fragile out there.

As ugly as it is, I can't stop watching - It's like a horror movie

In the first round at least rogowska went for her shots and made the best of it. Barrois is doing absolutely nothing and slicing her way through safina right now. Safina is serving like shit, tactically playing like a douche(even worse then normal) and has no idea whatsoever what she has to do.

What a difference compared to dementieva-oudin... That match is at least double the quality.

Bad for the WTA more than anyone or anything, even Dinara.

i'd be fine with it if it wasn't such a regular thing but imo the commentators are going overboard with the criticism. Last night Pam spent like 5 mins talking about how awful safina is. I was shocked.
it seems to happen every year. Last year everyone was was complaining how terrible and inadequate saf, dem, jankovic etc were.
It's such a negative way of looking at things, esp since it's ALL THE TIME

With how far back she is on returning, I seriously wonder why no girls serve really short to her or underhand serve to her like Romana did to Robson at Wimbledon last year, it is a smart tactic.

Yeah it's tiresome. Safina fuelling the fire, though.

I just wish these girls would play within themselves a bit more. They go for everything, rarely does a Winner/UE ratio favour the winners anymore. Maybe if Dinara played within herself a little more, she'd feel less pressure to hit shots that, more often than not, she's not capable of hitting. It's not just her though, it's +90% of the tour and that's why womens tennis isn't pretty anymore. :tears:

Spin it short to the FH on the deuce court, it's so obvious.

And what's interesting arrogant ESPN commentators think they are entitled to do that. Some of them are even laughing when they say their ignorant comments.

Lots of you hit the nail right on the head. Safina is playing horrible tennis, and I'm quite thankful at this point she is not on the main show court. Yet again, this sort of performance just screams critism from the media. She needs to work on the FREAKING serve. A professional? Serving DF in the double digits...CONSISTENTLY..like what's going on there? I really wish serena, venus, maria, elena, jelena or someone else with the ability would step it up and play like a number one should (throughout grand slams and in regular tour events. Justine did it extremely well in 2007, there was no denying her status as number 1 in the world. Serena, Venus, Maria and even Jelena have also done this at one point in their careers. Obviously, since I am a williams fan, I would love to see serena or venus step it up week in and week out. We will see what happens from here on out tho...
