unfortunately, Williams fans are the most vindictive on this board. They will be going after Safina - even though she hasn't really done anything to offend precious Williams sisters - until she retires. Some of them are still hating on Hingis and that is coming from 10 years ago..............

If you were number 1 in the world in your career you would be ashamed? If Serena and Venus are not ashamed when they lose to N.50 or 100, why should be Safina when she loses to N.2 or 3?

1. Venus and Serena have NEVER said "i dont care about this MM tournament"
2. Real Champions know how to live in the moment and not fuck it away like Safina does.
3. To be a champion, Safina has to beat the no. 2 or 3 in a slam tournament, something she's yet to do. And when attempted, has gotten her ass handed to her.

I know they didn`t. But a lot of their fans (I don`t know about you) say they don`t give their best on smaller tournaments, only on GS.
My (personal) opinion is that they can`t play on high level all year. You can say poor Safina only has two finals and two semis on last 4 GS, but you can look at it from the other side: Serena and Venus are just not capable to play the whole season.
Or better- we should just talk about Serena. How can Venus be N3, if she`s lost AO 2nd round and RG 3rd round? And Sveta has GS this year but still she is only N6?

I`m not complaining about this (Venus and Sveta) - I just want to say there are many ways to look at this and it just doesn`t make sense to discredite players for their rankings. It`s just entry list at the end of the day. And we all know how it works and Serena knows it as well ...
