It's the only slam where ball boys/girls are teenagers or even in their 30s. Does anyone know why ? Do they get paid ? It's kind of shocking.

Haven't you heard ??

The world's financial system is in crisis. There is a severe recession on.

Most of those ballpersons are prolly ex Wall-Street brokers and traders.

I've always wondered how the ball kids manage to get out of school during the other three majors. In NYC classes begin on the 8th.

They also throw the balls cross-court. Never saw that before.
Like baseline to baseline cross-court.

And some of the ball boys are the net are like laying in the court when they're on the opposite side of the players' chair. Kind of a Muslim prayer. Is the USO having new ball boy technology?

The French ones are young but they're quite good too.

They're within walkign distance of where the Mets play... it only makes sense to throw the ball.

I remember last year there was a really old ball person and a relatively young one, and the camera focused on the young one for about 5 seconds and then flashed to the old one for like 3 seconds

LOL! I am actually paying attention to them, and they have these people are trained like robots, lol. They run really fast and get the ball, and run towards the wall and immediately put their hands behind their backs, lol.

I know the US Open endeavour to include senior citizens to make them feel like they are in the community, and also it's good exercise for them too.

They have to do something as the Americans do squat for senior citizens financially (i.e no old-age pension nor free or even affordable health care )

Probably because the United States is so adamantly an equal opportunity employing company. Maybe they have to meet quotas.

Apparently they do open tryouts to be a ballperson. Not a big surprise that adults do better than kids.
