Makiri decided not to be a pusher anymore and use her great strokes instead of staying behind the baseline.

Amazing backhand winners by her in the last game of the match.

High quality match - a complete joy to watch. WTA needs more of this.

Maria was a complete revelation - her backhand, forehand, serve at crucial times, here athleticism, her confidence, return and her winning. Awesome.

But it takes two to create a great and exciting match and Radwanska certainly played her part. :hatoff:

I LOVE YOU SO FUCKING MUCH MARIA KIRILENKO. :hysteric: Its never easy with her, it always has to be a massive rollercoaster with a million bruises but it's so worth it for times like these. A couple of brainfarts in this match but still just amazing. Aga didn't even play badly, she hit a lot of  shots, but Maria just took it all out of her hands, especially at the end - SO many winners, I LOVE YOU MARIA KIRILENKO!

And people who are hating, seriously, you have no clue what you're talking about. You can hate, but she's laughing all the way to r3 with 43 winners. :wavey:

I thought she was going to choke the match away when she was down break points while serving for the match but she didn't. Stupid connection ruined my stream but she was great from what little I saw. :D :D :D :D

That celebration at the end though, shows how much she wanted it and how long she's waited to get a big win again.

I love this new Maria :inlove: Hitting winners left and right. I have no idea how she lost the 2nd set to 2, she had +6 differential, I think, but whatever.
She lost that set because she didn't take her chances as usual. Break points to get back on serve and she blew them. And some of her drop shots were :o.

the grunt was so disgusting that she doesn't deserver any. This forum is so hypocrite, her grunts are just as loud as MLDB, I personally couldn't watch the match and I'm sure that it bothered Radwanska too.

If I recall correctly Kiri was grunting only on important points really, when it got really tense. I don't think it was that bothering throught the match. While Michelle is just ridiculous - grunting even AFTER (not during) 2nd serve.

:spit: You're a mess. All you people think that the opponent would be bothered her grunting? She's doing it to be as intense as possible and its not the volume that's the problem, it's the length of the grunt which annoys opponents and Kiri's is fine so shut up.

And if you're not gonna watch the match then it's simply your loss.:wavey:

Maria beating Aga Radwanska is a nice surprise for me. Aga is a great defensive player yet Maria had an amazing 44 winners againt her. And Maria finally won a big grand slam match this year against a better player than she is in Radwanska who actually won more points than Masha did 88 to 84. What a sweet win for Masha. :) Well done.

Murray hit a 55 mph yesterday LOL.

Maria played like a top 10 player. Disappointing for Aga, Masha simply outplayed her in the end and exposed all her mental, tactical and physical weakness.

I saw the first set, and I'm soooooooo happy Masha held out for the win. OMG, has she always been so aggressive?! I love it. She looks hotter in plain adidas, too.

Congrats Makiri!

This is a shocking result to me. Radwanska losing to Kirilenko, and overpowered by her as well? Some crazy results already just in the first three days.

Maria!! :D Holy shit, who knew you could hit that hard, and that many winners?!? Brings me back to her match against Davenport at the AO 4? years ago, when she played really well from inside the baseline.

Watched the last set. And yes, she's bringing her aggressive tennis back. :woohoo:  So many winners. But in between some stupid UE's as well. :tape: But I totally like what I saw today.

I do hope she will continue to construct points but still be aggressive at the same time because the way she constructed pts =

Aga. She was so helpless having break chances. She just saw winner after winner after winner go past her. :spit: And 85 mph first serves are not going to help.

I dont like Maria but just because of her passive game all season long.

If she can play like this normally, than hats off to her.She had right tactics and stick with them all the way, hitting 40 winners, well done.

Thanks for the video. :) :inlove: Her reaction was just amaze. :inlove:

Aga

Too bad, this season is just not good for her, both her game and on-court confidence seems to worsen so much from '08  hope she starts playing better as soon as possible.

Maria :yeah: Deserved win, i'm happy for her and her fans :)
Very well played, I was truly impressed by the level of play she presented :worship: Aga didn't even play that badly, Maria just played so many good shots. Well, too bad that she reminded herself how to play really well while playing against my fave rather than against the player that I dislike  Just please Maria, don't lose to Na Li now after eliminating Agnieszka.

Radwanska sure is becoming one of the most hated players in this board. Her foul mouth will not get her anything.

So her assessment on the game slipped to GM... Honestly, as I already said on her sub-forum, it's a bit disappointing to hear her saying something like that. But seriously: how many of us haven“t made unflattering statements about someone? And what she said wasn't even "personal", she just stated that, in her opinion, Maria didn't play anything special (she didn't say properly that Maria can't play anything special). She's young, she had (certainly) other expectations for this game and she was (surely) pissed off because she lost it. If people over here hate her for this, I must say that you guys are truly perfect persons (and yet, you guys are here bashing her, probably other players and, occasionally, you're even bashing each others as well...).

Yesterday I watched Lena's interview after her 1st game and let me say you something: as a player that I like and respect, I could be really "surprised" about her pose and her choice of words in some sections of the interview. But then again, I don't find an interview to be the most reliable source to make an assessment about someone, so I ended up finding it funny (specially the part where she says: "I have no time for that, sorry, too busy on the court" and immediately looks to the other side )...:yeah:
