Apart from a some groups of people scattered in a few places, the stadium looks really empty as compared to yesterday's Venus's match :o
There will be more crowd later on as people fill in to watch Andy

whats is the point of these types of threads, do venus and maria fans really need to argue over who had more people in the stadium. the best was the venus fans in the safina result thread saying how the safina match was worse than venus's :help:

i mean does 'my fave sucks less than yours' sound like an intresting arguement/debate?

What are you stupid? It is clearly because Venus is American. DUHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. How boneheaded are you? Not to mention like everyone said there was a ceremony last night involving the likes of Agassi, Mia Hamm, Doug Flutie, & David Robinson. Add that to the fact that Roddick was playing after. Yes AMERICA LOVES RODDICK! Shocking right??? You cannot be that naive or ignorant.

Yet anyone who knows anything about tennis knows the type of talent this kid has. He just hasn't put in the hard work at all, but he is showing the same flashes of talent early on, and he is actually thinking out there. I'm curious to see what happens win or lose this first set, but you could be 100% right. He did the same thing against Roddick and had me worried for 2 sets then he faded away. I hope he doesn't here because this could turn into one of the best 1st round matches. Murray's cat and mouse, defensive play against Gulbis' power and pace. Love the dynamic.

You know most of the fans came in last night for Roddick.

The stadium is full for both nights, which is great.

Everyone needs to settle down.

There may have been more people for the start of Venus's match, but that's because hers started an hour later with fans able to move into the stadium during the entire ceremony. By 2-1, the stadium was pretty full for Maria/Pironkova.

tut tut...that has not always been your argument before...your argument was always:

maria is paid more = more popular than ws...

but whatever....you can't call ws fans defensive when the response of all maria fans in this thread over a factual observation is to come up with "of course cause it's america!!!111!!1!"

anyone who knows anything about tennis knows they are a lot of players with "talent"...and on paper the match appears interesting...but like all gulbis matches against top players, as i said, he'll play well for a set and a half, then he'll fade once the top player hits their stride...not interesting...it's just as predictable as safina stinking up the court against a lower ranked player then the lower ranked player will choke it away...
