Sep 17th, 2002, 06:59 PM
What happened to Iroda? She was on the original commitments list, but not the updated one.
Sep 18th, 2002, 05:12 AM
Angie will skip this tournament because of playing Asian Games. It will be her first appearance in AG and would be her memorable event (AG will come in next 4 years). Besides, she is still under WTA rule which prevents junior players from playing more than 9 senior tournaments in one year outside Grand Slams, Angie will have played 9 senior tournament on Wismilak Indonesia (correct me if I am wrong).
Sep 18th, 2002, 11:51 AM
So Tammy, Ai, Wynne, Shinobu and the rest won't be playing AG?
Sep 18th, 2002, 12:11 PM
Iroda will also participate in the Asian Games.
Sep 18th, 2002, 02:28 PM
Iroda will play Asian Games?

Sep 19th, 2002, 01:07 AM
I wish MªAntonia Sanchez could enter in this tournament
Sep 19th, 2002, 05:27 AM
Angie can play thirteen tournaments...plus slams if she gets direct entry
Sep 19th, 2002, 08:46 AM
to lin:Iroda will play Asian Games?
Why the question mark? If she is fit she`ll play, if she plays, I hope she`ll plays well, if she plays well, she can win, if she wins she`ll be happy, if she is happy, I am happy.:D
Sep 19th, 2002, 11:43 AM
But are you sure she will play?
Sep 19th, 2002, 12:02 PM
I'm sure Iroda will play. She's a medal prospect.
Sep 19th, 2002, 02:11 PM
I think Wynne will skip this tournament as well... Wynne will definitely play Asian Games :)
Sep 20th, 2002, 01:46 AM
Ai is chasing points for Championship. Good luck for her !
Anyway, AG 1998 in Bangkok Yayuk Basuki won gold medal ! This year I hope one of Indonesian players can win, but it must tough efforts.
Sep 20th, 2002, 07:27 AM

Sep 20th, 2002, 11:11 AM
I hope Wynne or Tammy lifts the gold medal
Sep 20th, 2002, 05:13 PM
Wow.. Iroda plays in Asian Games?
It's hard to predict who will win that event..
Tamarine, Iroda, Angelique, Wynne, Yoonjeong, Shinobu, Janet,...
Maybe Tamarine or Iroda will get the Gold medal...
(Irina Selyutina plays in Asian games too??)
Anyway in Japan Open there are no asian top players except Ai..
Why didn't they think about Asian Games? -_-
Sep 21st, 2002, 09:14 AM
maybe the WTA arranged the tournaments schedule hence the clashing
Sep 21st, 2002, 05:06 PM
I think most of all top Asian player will skip this tournament. Will this tournament be weakest Tier III drawing?

Hello the Ponos, :wavey:
Most of all top Asian players (except Ai Sugiyama) skip only the first week of the Asian Games in team event but they are scheduled to play the second week in individual event.
Ai does not play.
Angie play both team and individual ( Because of she does not play AIG Japan Open. )
Tammy play only individual event after AIG Japan Open.
Sep 22nd, 2002, 11:31 AM
Thanks Jiro. How about Wynne?
Sep 22nd, 2002, 11:40 AM
