Jelena you suck!

That's the easiest way to draw an error from Jelena. Slow the ball down so you'll lure Jelena into putting in 200% pace into the shot so it goes over the baseline.

So wierd... 2nd set Dokic 4-2 up, everything under control. Then out of nowhere she begins to hit everything outside of the lines and loses 4 games in a row.

I mean, it really looked like she didn't care at all. Even when she was hitting outside of the lines she didn't even try to take a little pace off and just kept blasting balls long. I mean, with her experience you'd THINK she'd know what to do. I can't honestly see why she wouldn't care about a match like this? :o

LOL the same story every time. If she managed to keep the ball in she would win this easily.

No offense, but Flipkens is that type of the player I hate, I mean I hate her game

Nice way to celebrate Flipkens. That's a real show of sportsmanship there...

Get it together Jelena. Just play more matches... PLEASE... and everything will go well.

PS. I really hope she draws a hard hitter on the next tournament, whatever seed she is (well apart from Serena/Venus perhaps). I am sick of these so-called "easy draws". They might be easy for the other players, but for a match-lacking Jelena they sure bring many problems.

Indeed. But we need to understand them, Dokic is really the most unlucky player, after Golovin. She desperately needs some luck or something, or she will give up :(

OMG JElena is hopeless, thats why I never really expect her to win. Still this was beyond pathetic. Ppl hjave got a stop trying to find excuses, Olaru, Malek and Flipkens freakin sucks, so Jelena sucks even more.

Jelena. :(

It didn't even look like she cared at all. I'm not sure if she was even trying...wow. She made so many UEs! She was trying to hit a winner on every ball and they were all flying out. If she would've just kept the ball in, she would've dominated this match.

I really don't think that if Jelena had played more matches during the season she would lose to any of these players. Apart from injuries/illness etc., yes, I DO blame her on that subject. She just isn't committed to a full tourney. If she finds the will to play matches, she will eventually get in form.

DragonFlame
Sep 1st, 2009, 12:34 AM
Dokic is really the most unlucky player.

I'm sorry but she's had her chances. Even today in this match, it really seemed like she didn't care at all. She didn't even try to change her tactics but kept going for more and more, and all of groundstrokes ended long.(losing 4 straight games from 4-2 to 4-6)

That's just REALLY bad against someone who has pretty much no weapons, and very unnessesary.

If jelena wants to get back to the top50 at least, she needs to get her head on straight and stop losing against beatable players. This is not only about luck, this is also about living up to your own potential. Which she clearly isn't. She's had chances this year, and some of them she should have taken. Especially in the springtournaments.

Would loved to have seen at least some bit of passion from Jelena out there:( Looked like she was in a rush to get off the court the way that she suddenly switched into full-on unforced error mode from 4-2 up in the second set.

Keadz

 That was hopeless.

Thanks for playing Jelena, at least we know you are alive for the next 4 months. If she plays more than 2 matches for the rest of the year I will be surprised!

Flipkens game is incredibly boring. That celebration at the end was a bit much, especially the fail attempt at jumping and clicking her feet at the end. :o

I don't think that's fair. I think she wants it, but this year is not an accurate measure obviously because of injuries. Sports Fatigue Syndrome, then the back injury, and then mono, she hasn't been given the chance to play bulk events. It's not like she's not trying, but she has these matches where it looks like she just does not give a fuck (Olaru, Flipkens) and don't even ask me what that's about.

I don't know. She's got 2 x $100K's coming up, we'll see how much she wants it or not I guess.

Not completely unexpected... Jelena hasn't played competitively since Wimbledon. This is in stark contrast to when she came into AO, she had won the wildcard play-off and played really well on the ITF before that. She really needs match practice to build up confidence and shot accuracy.

In an interview with Australian media, she says she's looking forward to post-USO and hopefully win some matches on the Asian circuit to salvage the season.

I never said anything about the way she played. That's her strategy, so be it, congratulations. A match-fit Jelena wouldn't lose that way.

But the way she celebrated is an other subject. I found it too much. Anyway, doesn't really matter.

Just like Venus has to always pretend to be at Wimby, Jelena should always pretend she's in Australia. Then maybe she would have actually cared about this match.

Jelena should have win this one after had chance to lead 5-2 in the second set. She could win this match even she would return the extra shots on Flipkens court. So sad to see such a talented player to waste her chances in this way. BTW, I don't hate Flipkens but, the reaction of her at the end tells the story. She also knows that she couldn't beat Jelena if she'd played in her real standards. Good luck Flipkens;) in the next round and Good luck Jela in your next tournament:hearts:

I must admit Flipkens did play some good stuff, although her repeated use of the slice backhand did get very monotonous but she did well considering her last two matches having said that though Jelena was clearly out of sorts lacking in fitness, footwork, movement and power.

I would say that Flipkens has a decent shot at the third round with Medina making a meal of her first round against the Wildcard Brodsky.

I knew Dokic would lose when she was red in the face and disinterested after 3 games.

She needs matches, and she certainly better make ever effort to play a lot before the AO rolls around again next year, removing her from the radar.
