Poor Lisa
Hantuyama got a hard draw, Williams in the QF. But who knows, eh?
And Yan/Zheng can have good days, sometimes!
One thing is sure - it'll be an exciting fortnight!! Ideally, quarters would be:
If the 8 top seeds make it to QF, there will be some amazing matches coming up!

It's time for Black/Huber to step it up like they did last year and show again why they are the best doubles team. If they can get on a roll early on I don't see them losing to anyone in their half. It's quite a favourable draw in terms of their H2H against most of the significant teams. Yes they have the most in-form team for the QF's in Nuria/MJMS, but they also have a 4-0 H2H. That should be a cracking match should it happen though, and maybe a de-facto final. I'd be surprised if Black/Huber lost in the final although the potential match with WS would be tough.

Bottom half, Williams/Williams will probably make it through but Vika/Vera are a potentially dangerous team for them in the 3R. AMG/VRP really just haven't done enough on hardcourts this year IMO, but they are always going to be dangerous in the bigger matches if they get there (afterall, VRP has won this more than anyone else in the draw).

From the start it looks like it will be a Black/Huber vs Williams/Williams final. :bounce: (Unless Perry/Raymond can sneak through.)

We didn't see it happen, but Daniela-Is-Mine saw Jarmilla have all of one foot completely taped up and walking on crutches. She seemed very happy and was talking happily with Janette as they were leaving the court. Hopefully she'll be OK.

Also saw most of first set of Perry/Raymond and Razzano/Szavay. Entertaining rallies though Agi was pretty off in the set that we saw. :o

A funny event that happened too. Perry hit an overhead into the stands and it hit Daniela-Is-Mine in the shoulder because he was too busy on his phone. :o :haha: Shenay obviously wanted him to pay attention to the match. :p  It was a funny moment though. :)

Round 2 starts today, a few very interesting matches:

Black/Huber vs Benesova/Zahlavova: a very tough team against the top seeds. Barbora and Iveta play very well together, and can challenge Cara and Liezel. Definitely a very good test for Cara and Liezel in this USO.

Dulko/Peer vs Mirza/Schiavone: Hard to guess the outcome, as always it will probably depend on Francesca, as when she decides to play, she is extraordinary in doubles. But definitely not a match that will be played at the net!

Chan/Srebotnik vs Williamses: The Williamses are the obvious favorites of that one, but with the talent Chan and Kata have, I don't know... maybe they can be tough opponents to the sisters.
