To qualify she'd have to win 3 matches too. :o I dunno would have been best to probably rest this week.

It won't matter.

New Haven is a tournament where everyone plays 2 or 3 matches then either tanks or pulls a fake injury

It's just some extra training unless your name is Safina :p

:secret: I don't think it's a good idea to mention Caro in Maria's forum :scared:

But it's true though, players use New Haven as a training run for USO

On Friday, it was the younger player who was better able to handle the heat and take another step in her continuing climb up the rankings.

Kirilenko held a 5-4 lead and was serving for the first set when the heat started getting to her. Although Radwanska shouted at herself in Polish after leaving the court open for Kirilenko to hit a winner, the game eventually went to deuce. A double fault and a couple of weak backhands by Kirilenko allowed Radwanska to tie the set at 5-all.

Kirilenko was all but done at that point, as Radwanska served strongly to win the next game, then won four straight points on Kirilenkoís weak serving in the next game to win the set at 7-5.

Kirilenko called for a trainer between sets and was given a medical time out, but it didnít help. After losing the first game of the second set she retired.

Hopefully It was just the heat that got to her and not an injury or something.

Gah. Rest up for the US Open. I hope it's nothing serious, she had a solid run-up, winning matches she was supposed to. Hopefully it's not another injury.

She will play double today. Honestly i don't understand why she withdraw on single on friday and play doubles on sunday.
If she is really injured she should take her time.

Court 2 (from 10.00hrs)
1. ATP: Cuevas vs. Rochus
2. Yanina Wickmayer vs. Tsvetana Pironkova (Singles Q Final)
3. ATP: Nieminen vs. Capdeville
4. Husarova/Kirilenko vs. Senoglu/Shvedova

Nikkiri
Aug 23rd, 2009, 09:58 AM
She wasn't injured. It was just heat illness.
Can't say I'm surprised to see her playing doubles  it takes less out on her and its later in the day, should be okay.

Does anybody know what the deadline to sign up for mixed doubles is? Cause if it's after the singles draw is made, then I think she should play if she gets a very bad draw in singles, one that'd be very unlikely for her to make it past the 1st or 2nd round.

SOA_MC
Aug 24th, 2009, 08:10 PM
She shouldn't play mixed.

Not when Maria has a new tape on a new body part every tournament and not when her ranking is at a 4 year low

Nikkiri

I don't think Maria would play if she didn't feel up to it. I have no problems with Maria playing mixed if she's out early in singles you know.

kirivanovic
Aug 25th, 2009, 10:58 AM
Mixed is fun and she won't lose energy by playing with Igor. His serve and forehand help her a lot and avoid long rallies. (and the mixed draw will probably begin when Maria will be out,so...)
