Mariah Carey Readies Vision of Love Like Single (http://www.singersroom.com/news/4295/Mariah-Carey-Readies-Vision-of-Love-Like-Single)

Mariah Carey's summer anthem "Obsessed" was reportedly nothing but a buzz track.

According to Showbizz411 columnist Roger Friedman, the song was a mere warm up for a single that is being deemed "Vision of Love" worthy.

"Vision of Love," Carey's 1990 debut single, reached no.1 on not only the US Billboard charts but in the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, the Netherlands and Canada before netting a Grammy. It is in some minds, Carey's strongest single. With that said, the World Music Award-winner is churning up a single that Friedman calls a "powerhouse ballad" for release in the near future.

While an exact release date has not been confirmed for the new single, Carey's forthcoming album "Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel" is due September 29 so it shouldn't be far off.

As previously reported on Singersroom, Carey's forthcoming album will be her twelfth effort and follow up to 2008s "E=MC2," which spawned the singles "Touch My Body," "I Stay In Love," "Bye Bye" and "I'll Be Lovin' U Long Time".

In related news, Mariah Carey's publicist has come forward to offer an explanation for the diva's recent round of cancellations, postponements and the adjusted release date.

And LMAO @ Obsessed not being the 1st single when it is already sold on itunes, has a video and she has performed it "LIVE"

Plz dont hype this up. It might backfire cos her voice cant even handle a normal song LIVE, let alone a powerhouse ballad.. Just finish the album and release it ffs.

Allegedly, her cover of Foreigner's I Want to Know What Love Is will be the next single. She really needs to bring it with this one.

I don't believe a damn thing Roger Friedman says but I would love a big power ballad from Mariah, so long as she doesn't whisper the entire song.

damage control on Obsessed  it became a semi hit after that Eminem diss track (it might get a top 10 spot).

i'm all up for a good ballad (although Vision of Love isn't really one of my Mariah favs)

she's tacking a HUGE risk with this one because that's one of the most classic ballads ever. I just hope that it isn't The Dream or JD producing it :help:

on another note, it will be interesting to see her perform this one live

I'm pretty sure Mariah, The Dream and Tricky produced it. A bunch of people who heard it call it a sure hit, but we'll see. I really thought Obsessed was going to be a hit, but it wasn't even close to one (for her standards, at least).

I LOVE Vision of Love and would be extremely suprised if this was anywhere near as good.
Hype, hype, hype.

I hope the vocals for this were recorded by 1996 or something because otherwise this is gonna be one big MESS.

God why? :o she needs to go pop im tired of all this hip hop mess, yes it worked for EOM but it's just tiresome :(

so she's doing a cover of i want to know what love is instead of a sample? bad bad bad idea :(

H.A.T.E.U. :hearts: can't wait for this track

Candy Bling? It’s a Wrap? Up Out My Face? Betcha? Angels cry? this screams fake

I hope Mariah gets Jennifer Holliday to recreate the Tony winner's background vocal that was oh too short but still memorable. And I hope she does bring it...to make up for the Def Leppard and Journey misfires. ;)
