It was announced last week  Right now Robert Kendrick and Abigail Spears (NY Sportimes) are the leading team, followed by James Auckland and Raquel Kops Jones (Boston Lobsters). The wild card is determined by percentage of games won throughout the season and the top 4 teams currently are below.

Kendrick/Spears (NY Sportimes)--55.8%
Auckland/Kops Jones (Boston Lobsters)-49.3%
Lika Deikmeijere/Tripp Phillips (St. Louis Aces)--49.2%
Dusan Vemic/Kveta Peschke (Kansas City Explorers)--48.9% (Obviously Vemic/Peschke wouldn't need the wild card though if they were to become the top team for the season).

Abi and Raquel could enter mixed doubles draw in Wimbledon but I doubt they can in the other slams as I think the draw is bigger in Wimbledon, with a few byes.

Yeah, sounds like a fun idea. But one thing perplexes me. How is it that only one single team has won more than 50% of their games. Surely that can't be right.

Good idea for a W/C to be granted to the top WTT mixed doubles team.

Raquel vs Abi

Surely Kveta doesn't need it but I hope she wins a few more WTT matches at least, glad to have her back :bounce:

I really like this idea:yeah:

I agree about Venus, Serena wouldn't play she has already won it and hasn't played mixed since like 1999, with the exception of Hopman Cup. Venus needs the USO Mixed win:lol:

They do a lot of mixing and matching of doubles teams at WTT. It's not as though as one team plays together the whole year. You also need to play a certain number of games in order to qualify for the wild card. Technically, Stubbs/Paes are the top team of the season, but Rennae hasn't played enough games in mixed doubles to qualify for the WTT standings.

And Arturo, Raquel and Abigail are probably on the edge of whether they could get into the US Open mixed directly with their ranking, but their partners aren't even close. They would need the wildcard to play with them.

Okay. That makes sense. I figured it had to be something like that. It still a nice little incentive for the teams involved. :)

Anna's not playing WTT this year. I think it's a wrist injury.

With two matches to go, plus the conference championships, here are the standings for the wild card playoff. Looks like it's coming down to Spears/Kendrick and Scheepers/Damn

1) Rennae Stubbs/Leander Paes (Washington Kastles)-63.1%--they obviously will not need a wild card though ;)
2) Abigail Spears/Robert Kendrick (New York Sportimes)-54.5%
3) Chanelle Scheepers/Martin Damn (Springfield Lasers)-54.3%
4) Raquel Kops-Jones/James Auckland (Boston Lobsters)--49.6%

Plus I highly doubt they would play together there, because Leander and Cara said they'd play together the full year (and Cara's husband is working with Leander, he is his fitness coach)

Stubbs/Paes were the top ranked team this season. If they decline it, I wonder if they'll give it to Spears/Kendrick who were the second best team.

Thanks :bounce:. I would think Stubby and Paes could get into the draw together based on their rankings  Hopefully Abi and Rob will be offered the WC :bounce:

Kendrick/Spears is a hilarious combination, as Robert is far from known for his doubles expertise; the results in WTT don't really mean much.

That being said though, Kendrick and Sloane Stephens beat the #1 seeds in mixed at the US Open last year. He may not be a doubles expert, but he can definitely play.
